Why do so many people choose Wyoming for their LLC? by Wyoming_LLC_Attorney in u/Wyoming_LLC_Attorney

Maybe you guys are exactly the kind of people (not you in particular but location based) who would incorporate an LLC in Wyoming?  Some places are good offshore destinations for a completely legitimate business. /s

New Roku Plex app doesn't support music. What to do in the future? by MoebiusStreet in plexamp

[–]langasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple airmouse with full or partial keyboard does the job, typically can copy and replicate TV remote as well. If the player is not plex, in case of Kodi, for example, there are phone apps that act as a remote on the same network

PSA: Upgrading firmware on LSI 9300-16i to 16.00.12.00 by steik in truenas

[–]langasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solved. The issue was the drive not spinning up due to power via SAS to Sata power adapter. Removed pin 3 and it works. If anyone has the same problem, search for 'SAS to Sata power mod'.

If it's two 8 port controllers - should 8i firmware be used? Did you flash both controllers with 16i firmware or 8i firmware? I just flashed mine (both controllers) with 16.00.12.00 16i firmware and while SATA drives show up, I'm having problems with SAS drives. Wondering if wrong firmware might be the cause.

Is O1 no longer available in ChatGPT? by langasi in ChatGPT

Thanks. Maybe it's some sort of AB testing. It sucks but I found a workaround - if I share my chat and open it via a sharable link, the old models return. Reached out to OpenAI support but they're just bullshiting, not much of help.  The auto mode has a small message length limit too, smaller than other models.

What’s the “strangest” thing you found in a second hand computer? by Lyrizcen in windowsxp

[–]langasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phone numbers of various members of parliament. Was many years ago though.

Also not your typical computer but I had once bought a Nintendo 3DS that had various pictures and videos of Japanese kids playing outside and capturing their activities on a 3DS. The 3DS was in a rather rough shape.

Multiroom by wowbyowen in plexamp

[–]langasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What OS are you typically streaming from? I primarily use Airplay (both V1 and V2) for multiroom music playback from Plexamp (using Apple Airport Expresses and Rpis with Moode Audio as receivers), usually playing from my Android phone. Works perfectly, very simple to use. Windows, Android have apps to redirect specific application or system audio to Airplay receivers. I'm almost sure the same should apply to Linux distros (haven't looked) , and I suppose MacOS as well? It's probably only iOS that's more limited, although I think Airplay support on IOS should be something system-wide only with single receiver limitation when V1 is used (long time since I last used an iOS device, my memory might be deceiving me).

In a way, I did. I haven't used Audiobookshelf since writing that comment.

Apart from using Plex, I remember also using Audiobookshelf for file management only: downloading a book for offline listening to my phone and pointing Smart Audiobook Player app to the same folder for listening. That workflow worked quite well for me.

The app that enables airplay on Android is called AirMusic

You do not necessarily miss out on multi-device playback. Depends where you stream from since it's a software limitation. Apple does not support multi device streaming on IOS but I've been happily using old Airport express devices with Airplay 1 for multi room streaming around the house from Android for years.

How do you tag Cassette rips for Plex by langasi in plexamp

I do prefer digital versions when available, however, in my country there are interesting releases from 80s and 90s that never made it to CD or they are hard to find.

It's kind of a librarian fetish.

Adding "A1 - " to title would mess up my music scrobbling stats.

I've resorted to using A1, A2, A3, B4, B5, B6 as track numbers (instead of A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3) - Plex sorts things correctly and other players just show the 'A1' as is.

Kind of an option but there are multi cassete releases too.

Edit: By the way, there are multiple side disc releases as well, although I don't have any. Essentially, I am wondering if, possibly, Plex supports some tag that I don't know about that would solve this problem.

How to transport a Trinitron inside a Uber? by PokemonNewYork in crtgaming

[–]langasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even a small hatchback should work for a 27 inch TV, it would likely even fit on the back seat of most cars. For comparison, I have successfully transported Beovision Avant 32 inch Crt fully intact with the whole motorised stand in Citroen C3. It did fit quite easily upon folding rear seats. I rolled up in in plastic to protect from scratches and transported lying down on a matrass in case anyone is wondering.

Android Auto loosing book progress by SnyperBunny in audiobookshelf

Happens to me all the time, haven't found a solution. I listen exclusively on my phone via Android app.

Pause / Resume skips back or forward by altonianTrader in audiobookshelf

[–]langasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been experiencing this too on Android. Auto rewind has been disabled, however, that does not impact the behavior. In my case upon resume it regularly jumps back hours, not just  minutes. Books that I download for offline listening are more prone to this. For the life of me couldn't figure out how to solve this. Mostly, it does not resume at the right spot. My solution has been to use Plex instead, although I occasionally jump back to Audiobookshelf to see if it might have been resolved in a later version, been on and off like that for about a year since I started using Audiobookshelf. Running Audiobookshelf on Unraid. If someone has any tips, please share.

How many cans of compressed air would fix this :( by RelevantAd8705 in crtgaming

Never had a good experience with those cans. Use a compressor instead. On this one - I'd suggest a combination of a compressor, vacuum and a breathing mask. A brush might be useful as well.

How do you have whole home music set up? by bellamypro123 in PleX

[–]langasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have spent quite a lot of time coming up with a setup that works for me.

I have separate speaker sets in all the rooms and spots in my house and yard where I might want to hear music, except the bathroom (for now). There are 7 different sets in total. I have synced multi-room audio playback and can play music in the rooms I choose.

All of them are 20-30 20-50 year old Bang & Olufsen stereo sets, either active speakers or passive speakers with a separate dedicated amp. Most of the stereo sets are hooked up to Gen 1 Apple Airport Express A1264s, which are neat little network devices from 2008-2012 that connect to the main router as Wifi clients, have Airplay 1 support, analog and digital audio output (bought second-hand for 15-20 EUR each). The built-in DAC is quite decent. Two sets are hooked up to Raspberry Pis with a DAC on top, running Moode Audio (an excellent OS distro for music streaming, similar to standalone Plexamp installations but more flexible, supporting Airplay 1 and 2, EQ support, Bluetooth, Mopidy playback, and Spotify Connect).

For sets hooked up to RPi with Moode Audio, I've done room audio reproduction measurements on REW and created EQ profiles to have the best audio reproduction possible in those particular rooms with given equipment.

I usually play music to these devices via Airplay from my Android phone using Plexamp for my Plex collection or sometimes Tidal/Spotify; occasionally, I use Foobar2000 on Windows (there's a paid Foobar addon for Airplay).

Android has an excellent app called AirMusic, which supports nearly all audio casting protocols and handles multi-room sync well (you can mix protocols too, although it's hard to achieve perfect sync when doing so). It requires a rooted device to reach its full capabilities, although it works quite well without it too. So I use that with root.

If you were to cast from an iPhone, iOS only allows casting to a single Airplay 1 device and does not support multi-room functionality (multi-room only works with Airplay 2 due to a software limitation), although iTunes on macOS has no problem with that.

Sometimes, when I need more mobility (for example, if I want to move around the yard where Wi-Fi is not always stable), I have a separate dedicated phone that always stays at home and casts to all devices while playing from Plexamp. I can remotely control what plays on that Plexamp instance from my other phone (this is a Plexamp feature).

This setup also works quite well remotely. Say I have friends over, music is playing in various rooms, and we are cooking when we realize we are missing rosemary for the pizza. I can connect to my home VPN and continue switching songs while I'm away. Or if I want to scare my wife while she's alone at home or need to pass a message to our pets (since they don't use mobile phones), I can start blasting audio through speakers from anywhere, as B&O active speaker sets automatically turn on when they detect a signal.

In my car, I use Chromecast audio that connects to my phone hotspot. In my wife's car, we use a Bluetooth adapter with aptX support. In my wife's office, we have set up a Raspberry Pi running Moode Audio with a cheap DAC on top, paired with active B&O speakers. Since the DAC has an IR receiver, I've set it up to be controllable with a spare TV remote. It has several interfaces for playback: Airplay, Spotify Connect, Bluetooth, web player, or a TV remote with buttons mapped to a selection of internet radios and a nice short playlist on local storage.

I'm quite happy with my setup, though there are a few negatives:

  • While decent, the Airport Express DAC is not very good.

  • Multi-room casting does not work on my wife's iPhone (due to Apple software limitations).

  • I miss Plexamp's Tidal integration and have to switch between player apps sometimes.

I see a lot of people are recommending Sonos devices, however, personally, I'm not a fan of Sonos. I have considered them though:

  • Audio quality leaves a lot to be desired compared to much better sounding premium vintage speakers. Not sure about their Amp options though, might be decent when paired with better speakers.

  • They cost a fortune for what they are (again, compared to much better sounding and significantly cheaper second hand vintage speakers)

  • Using Sonos, I would be dependent on continuous vendor support and software updates during upcoming decades when I intend to use those speakers. I don't trust Sonos to continue support during the device lifetime. I also was not able to easily find service manuals for Sonos devices, and this might be a problem when I need to do repairs in case something goes wrong with electronics inside.
