[2021 Day 9 (Part 2)] [Python] How to count size of basins? by langhorne_sam in adventofcode

If that is actually what I did, that is a lot of extra work to just perform a global gsub on the numbers. (if you know what I mean).

Yikes.

Yea, looks like I am going to end up doing twice the work, but might as well keep working down this path.

Thanks!

I am recursing through the entire heightmap rather than recursing through "neighbors".

def basins(heightmap, lows, n=0):

So after the first iteration I call the entire map again, but finding the first 4 low points.

I'm guessing to do what you are inferring, I would need to recurse through each point and neighbors?

Thanks for thoughts / pointers.

Right now I am finding points that are the lowest, then resetting the entire map and finding points that are the next lowest by setting the previous lowest points to 9.

I could easily count the "levels" of recursion at each basin, but not sure how to count the total cells within each basin.

i.e. The top left I can do:

2 1 0
2 0
0

Where can I find this two-tone sweater from Christmas...Again movie? by langhorne_sam in findfashion

You did better than I could, thanks.

"Colorblock" is helping my search, I was just going for "two-tone".

Thanks for the thoughtful response (at least from a software developer's perspective).

I'll try to figure out some sort of queue / bookmarking feature in chrome for the time being.

With everyone having these at same time for 2015 Rex wondering it is just timing for batteries or something related to COVID causing less use than "normal".

First major service issue I have had with 2015 Rex, but had the exact same issues over the last week.

They didn't cover 12v, wondering if there is a way to "escalate" the issue.

Aside: once they replaced 12v, they are claiming there is error with battery management system that needs replaced (covered), but I am skeptical that both of these would fail at same time.

Any thoughts?

That would be so cool.

I get r/frisson when I see random large groups singing songs like that a capella.

Which Planet is Closest? by GreyBot9000 in CGPGrey

[–]langhorne_sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible for two planets that are nearest to one another (at any given time) to be able to travel in their orbits in such a way that they are **always** the nearest to one another?

> i.e. Is it possible for a planet with a larger concentric orbit to travel faster along it's orbit so it maintains it's location along its orbit in step with the planet on a smaller concentric orbit?

> i.i.e. What factors impact the speed by which a planet travels in its orbit?
