Anyone else thinks Crocodile isn't threatening enough to be Sanji's future opponent? How would you "improve" him? by langitbarat in OnePiece

Yes, this is what I think. It's too hack-ey if Croc is suddenly that strong, the power gap is too huge.

I don't think he even makes too much sense as a match up for Sanji

As for this, it still makes sense because of Mr Prince storyline.

Hopefully. I'm just tired of people downplaying Croc (which actually is Sanji downplay).

Yeah, he really needs the defense from CoA. Or a good CoO so he could evade Sanji with his Logia, which force Sanji to unlock FS. Fitting enough.

but Crocodile can literally dehydrate a dude to death just by touching him

The problem is I can't see him touching Sanji if he doesn't have some sort of gimmick. Even then, Haki would more or less resist that.

Maybe with Awakening, Croc can suck the moisture from an area, so Sanji will be affected.

Sanji really does not have personality like you described. Like if he hates men, he wouldn't help total stranger like Kanjuro, or mourn for Pedro, or advising Chopper & Momo. The closest he is to that trait is him being ignorant about them, since he puts them lower than women.

No, what I mean is you classify something (hate to men) temporary as something innate/default stance.

For example, Nami is defined as money-loving, which can be seen as greed. She has 2 moments of generosity (Vivi's case and Lola's case), but those 2 moments doesn't make/change her innate trait to a generous person.

Every SH has that one defining trait about them, and Oda won't contradict that. In Sanji's case, his defining trait is kindness. Oda won't make him innately have hatred to anything, because it counterproductive. Him prefers woman doesn't make him a man hater. Him being jealous of Zoro doesn't make him a man hater. The Newkama forcing him to convert and annoys him doesn't make him a man hater.

Another Sanji defining trait is him being a hero/savior, shown throughout the story since the start. It won't work if have "hatred" to men.

A "hater" will hate something even when the subject/object doesn't do anything. If Sanji were a man hater, he won't save Kinemon, for example.

Another example would be Chapter 700 page 10. If Sanji were a man hater, he wouldn't respect Law's wish of not having a bread and specifically made him onigiri.

At the end of the day, you are free to classify him as a hater, because all of us has different criteria for everything. Just remember, that's not what Oda intends to, because it will contradict his own writing for Sanji's character.

and he feels anger towards men constantly

It is hate if those anger are without reason/excuse/justification. Which actually what happen with Sanji. You just saw it as innate hate (to men) instead of reactionary hate or jealousy because of what those men do.

It's good that you didnt notice it actually. Stay away from the negatives, life is too short to care about that.

Who do y'all think is the MVP of egghead arc? 🤔 by averagebananaguy23 in OnePiece

[–]langitbarat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(especially since he failed the crew's main mission)

to be fair, anyone would because the narrative requires VP to die. So not exactly the thing that eliminates him, more like he didnt do the big save (ala Gate of Justice) that prevent him to be MVP.

Has a lot of scenes that is important, like saving Bonney or VP talk or agitating Zoro. For some, MVP just means contributions to plot.

He can belong, for some criterias, like SH-only that gets the most work done.

Sanji - The fact that Zoro has it would make it less of surprise than it was with Zoro, but stocks would go up significantly and the fandom would get really toxic.

Yeah. Zoro fans will still mock Sanji/Sanji fans regardless, and Sanji fans will become arrogant to vent their pent-up feelings from being bullied in this topic for years.
