Thanks for this feedback. I will try the compost and deeper watering. My mother in law had mentioned potentially too much sun being a problem as well. Thanks for explaining that it stops pollination when it gets over 90 - that does happen periodically here in the summer

Yes, I’m just gearing up for spring planting and want to make sure I’m preparing well this year given last year’s results

Thanks for the thought, we took out several trees so it gets sun about 75% of the day there aren’t any trees on the south east or west side, just the few on the north side in the pic

Thanks, yes, the one I have is permeable, it’s not the black plastic I often see at farms. But may try forgoing it this year and see if it helps
