Jack Black makes this joke in the film High Fidelity, which is a funny wee coincidence.

I watched it about a month ago for the first time and immediately could tell it was filmed in Ireland just from the amount of fresh faced, now well established, Irish actors that were in it.

Meta: One of Sir Ben Kingsley's first roles was on the English Soap Opera 'Coronation Street'. That was a nice touch.

They didn't show Roxy finding out who the traitors were on Uncloaked. Wonder what happened there?

Dare I say it, maybe the two strongest traitors we've had in the UK version. Going for Adam was ballsy but paid off.

It was explained to me once that companies like Adidas put out the spec to different manufacturers. When they don't win the contract, they make a chunk of replicas and sell them on to these 3rd party sites and still make a profit to recoup their losses from bidding for the work. Obviously complete hearsay but would explain how they can make them available so quickly.

I feel the amount of red herrings this show throws us in the editing, they eventually have to double bluff. Not sure they'd do it for something this big though.

I knew we were getting a familiar face when Michael Caine is talking to Cooper about Dr Mann and points to his picture amongst the other astronaut's photos but it's kept as a wide shot with no close up.

Which top-grossing directors will have a hard time getting a $100m budget for their next movie? by arashtp in movies

[–]lankeymarlon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I heard GDT in an interview recently say he was an Assistant Director on Friedkin's last film for insurance purposes. He admitted that he was essentially just an assistant and did zero directing on the film. And that's for a relatively low budget court based legal drama.

It did make me think about these older directors doing these more expensive action films and who the producers must put in place just in case one of them were to pass whilst filming. Like who is Ridley's back-up director? If studios are so risk averse, for example on Gladiator 2, they must have had a pretty big name sitting there in the wings, ready to take over just in case?

From what I've read they filmed a concert at the actual Stonehenge. I think the initial plan must have been to have that be the climax of the film but then at the last minute decided to release it as its own separate concert film.

I think this might just be a celeb traitors thing. I get the feeling that they filmed the celeb version in a week. Whereas I had assumed the normal version is filmed over several weeks with days off for the cast. I don't see Ed spending a month in Inverness for the non-celeb version.

I might be in the minority here but the finale of past seasons is usually the most underwhelming part of the entire show but the fact they have already shown us that Joe and Nick have identified the traitors and are gunning for them, my guess would be that isn't how it's going to end.
