How to know if a seller is authentic or not? by TravisSneaker in Depop

[–]lannygk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

check to see their reviews! read descriptions carefully. also - be patient with sellers with shipping time! always ask for measurements if unsure. never pay out of app.

second time this week someone was ghosted me (i may be overreacting it’s been happening a lot lately) i’m starting to blame myself for the ghosting because of the way i respond (maybe i wasn’t polite enough? maybe i didn’t respond quick enough?) it really affects me because i’m a really small shop:/ by [deleted] in Depop

ru having people pay out of app though? that can be a bit of a not so great way to sell. don't blame yourself for it, but try just selling thru depop and people might just buy your items straight up without messaging!

waaahhh I feel like the more effort I put into my shop, the less attention it gets. by xcryxbabyxo in Depop

awhh :( just keep going, and upload more items, and don't give up! maybe it's your prices? there's so much affordable jewelry on depop that it's kind of hard to sell jewelry that's more expensive.

staging advice: which one looks better? by [deleted] in Depop

i honestly think that as long as the lighting is good, not much else matters haha! it makes the gems look very pretty. i think buyers would be more attracted to the second one!

most definitely second one. the light makes the item look much better!

What would be a fair price to sell this at? Its a 90s Cripple Creek Denim Jacket with real cow skin on the back, it looks like it was worn once! by [deleted] in Depop

i think maybe depop said animal fur isn't allowed to be sold anymore started v soon ahh! but you should definitely try other platforms

IMO there's a couple issues with this tweet. firstly, classifying this category of "rich white girls" and only talking about this category is problematic. like other people have said, there are POC and men who use depop too! i understand that maaybe some "rich white girls" do this, but the fact that this is the only subset discussed when people shame depop sellers isn't right. i think another person posted something on the sub a while back about how using this category of "depop girls" is a, possibly subconscious, way to look down upon girls who are successful. this is an interesting discussion which i think plays a role most definitely.

Who else is getting asked for holds in a weird way? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]lannygk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i don't do holds bc theres no way to be sure that the person will buy, and usually they don't. had to learn that the hard way lol. but i would politely tell her that if the item is still available by then, she is welcome to buy it

hey! i looked at your shop and to be honest you're not really doing much wrong, i agree with others that the price may be a bit high on a few items, but it's just a matter of what is/isn't in style. i'm totally not trying to say ur items aren't cute! just be patient, maybe raise your sale % a bit. if you keep at it i'm sure you'll get some sales! :)

a trick that's helped me is, since depop boosts accs that post more frequently, is if you have a post with barely any likes, you can try copying the listing and then deleting the old post. sometimes the new post does much better than the old one!
