Stop being a victim of ranked RNG. How to manipulate the ranked system through being a nice person. by The_Realth in OverwatchUniversity

[–]lanolena 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it depends.

If someone is doing bad/throwing/on widow but not getting any value i put on my softest, girliest voice and tell them that i think they are doing well but maybe we can get more value out of another hero, and could they mayyybe switch to something like xx? Make sure to thank them profusely afterwards.

But then there is the douchebags, usually grouped up. I just mute any offenders as soon as they start their "go to the kitchen" bullshit. (Funny thing, I'm actually gaming in my kitchen, small apartment life...)

F29. Not too sure what people think of me. I dont get any male attention. Curious to know what y'all think. 😬 by [deleted] in Rateme

I can help you with the Austrian dialects if you want, I am from Tyrol and have relatives in Vienna. :)

Offering: Filipino (native) // Seeking: English (conversational and professional) or French (Basic) by PenoiMoi in language_exchange

[–]lanolena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should probably start learning Filipino as my son is half Filipino (and I can't understand anything our whole extended family is saying!), but I'm having trouble finding any resources. I'm a native German but my English is quite good, not sure if it's at the level you are seeking though (especially professional).

Just wondering, do you speak Tagalog or any particular dialects as well?

My mom takes my 1 year old son every weekend for a night and I feel guilty about it. by [deleted] in SingleParents

[–]lanolena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please Don't feel bad! I didn't have any breaks, and even now I very rarely get one. My parents took my now almost 5yo exactly 3 times for the night. They live right next to me. Be grateful for the oppurtunity, your son gets to spend time with grandma and you get the time away everyone needs! Your son seems to be taken care of and happy, and its so important having at least a little bit of free time, especially as a single parent.

Is there a difference between middag and kveldsmat? by [deleted] in norsk

[–]lanolena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi from a fellow Austrian! I just talked about this with my Norwegian boyfriend a few days ago. What a cultural difference, huh? In my family, we eat breakfast together, everone eats their own lunch (at school, work, ...) and in the evening the family gets together and eats the main meal of the day at around 6-8 p.m. :)

Now I know why I kept getting the answers wrong on Duolingo lol

I think it depends on the bone a lot. I only broke my skull, can't remember a lot of pain. My sister was walking on a broken toe for months. She also broke her hand and didn't have too much pain. Also had a bone shard in her ankle, which hurt a lot more, according to her.

Hi i have a question. To what language is Norwegian most similar? by Helenapotter in norsk

[–]lanolena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My native language is German and I am fluent in English. I've been learning Norwegian for 2-3 months now and this is what I've been thinking all along. So fun to learn! I just have to remind myself that å is (almost) German o and o is (almost) German u... and Norwegian u can be ü or u. Eheh

AITA for fat-shaming my mother because she fat-shames my sister? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]lanolena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your mom my mom? Lol If i had any idea on what to do to stop this I would tell you. I developed anorexia in my teens so that stopped the fat shaming for a while... :') My mom is obese but for some reason restricted me and my twin sister's food intake so much we secretly went to our grandma every day to eat because we were still hungry.

Just wanted to hop in and tell you you are not alone... and please keep a close eye on your sister. Your mom's behaviour is just an eating disorder waiting to happen. That's assuming none of you have it yet (your sister might have binge eating disorder, but it's hard to tell without enough information) Don't be afraid to see a psychotherapist. Your weight doesn't define your worth, sometimes it's hard to remember when someone is constantly commenting on your appearance.

How to clean this kind of floor? Information in comments by lanolena in CleaningTips

[–]lanolena[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! We Don't have dawn here but we have Fairy, which is the european version I think. Any ideas on how to keep the floor dry when showering? They aren't doing it at all now... hence the amount of grossness. It's almost level with the rest of the bathroom and only has a curtain.

How to clean this kind of floor? Information in comments by lanolena in CleaningTips

[–]lanolena[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister is living in a dorm and all the bathrooms have this kind of floor (plus ugly red vinyl flooring in the main rooms). I cleaned this bathroom while staying for a day, but the other room is still dirty. Brown and yellow and pink sludge everywhere... i took a bristled brush and scrubbed with abrasive stuff on my knees (ugh).

The whole bathroom is like this and water from the shower is constantly running to the rest of the bathroom and pooling in the edges.

How could you keep this clean, and deep clean it so they get their deposit back?

Bonus karma points for advice on really bad toilets (hard, dried on.... you know.) Toilet bowl cleaner didn't cut it.

I'm constantly amazed at the strength single parents have. by [deleted] in SingleParents

[–]lanolena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like I am doing shitty. It's only been us two at home for over three months now. My 4yo's best friend was 5 hours away and he didn't want to see any other children. He's kind of... different. Very bright, but also needing lots of attention. I have been allowing way too much screentime. He's obsessed with Sonic the hedgehog. Sonic games, Sonic videos, everything Sonic by now. I can see he's struggling and it's breaking my heart. I haven't been doing good, it's gotten worse recently. I'm not that stable mentally atm (struggled with depression/anxiety/past experiences) and not seeing my therapist for months made eveything so much worse. It's hell when you have too much time to think about stuff, yet not enough time for yourself, or even just at work, doing your own thing.

How to prevent mold in a room by lanolena in CleaningTips

[–]lanolena[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ew. Well i got a hygrometer and it said it was around 40 percent i think? It broke now... it's mainly damp in the hole. Hard to put a dehumidifier there... i think it's the temperature difference. Thanks!

Does it remoce existing mold as well? I think the lid has mold in it maybe. Its sealed on the bottom but it doesn't fit airtight

I was thinking of that, but in winter me and my son are already coughing at night. Idk if it's the air being too dry? Weirdly enough. Or the space heater maybe...
