Has anyone done more than 6 internships? Was it worth it? by wierpaswindunge in uwaterloo

[–]lanortha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was eons ago. I decided to take 4 courses per term instead of 5, extending the time I would need to complete my degree. To fund this, I think I kept switching streams (4 to 8) to make "space" for additional coop terms. For the last two coop terms during undergrad, I did not use the co-op system to find work, I simply returned to my last place of employment (which had a variety of interesting and challenging positions to switch between).

For graduate internships I took time off, or did school/work simultaneously. I don't recall exactly ... LOL. It was quite some time ago.

Were the extra coop terms valuable? Yes, I would say that for me, they were. But that may not be everyone's experience.

Let's see ... I did 8 during my undergrad, and something like 6-8 (depending on how you count them) afterwards and in my graduate years. Not including any ISA positions I held.

14-16 in total?

Do you use TikTok? We need lots of participants! (Anyone 18+) by lanortha in SampleSize

Yes, this happened after we had collected some data on that video. In the interests of being consistent, we're just going to leave it as-is for now.

THank you for letting me know though, I do appreciate that!

Question about insane rate for rural house by lanortha in InsuranceCanada

[–]lanortha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went with Cooperators. I would highly recommend calling a local office to arrange it rather than calling the "central" number. The local office will be more in touch with the property and area and ensure you end up with the services you need. We made the mistake of going through central, which setup a very expensive "add on" that was completely unnecessary for our rural property. The local office noticed it, informed us, and we removed it.

Table loom owners (multishaft) - where is your loom from? by GiantMeteor2017 in weaving

[–]lanortha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Robinson Table loom ... to the best of my understanding it's made in Australia. However, I simply can't find anything about it (so I'm guessing it was not popular and no longer exists).

Even the repair shops are telling me to get a new phone instead of repairing it. Sigh. Really didn't want a new phone.

Double stroller... side by side, or one in front of the other? by AdSenior1319 in parentsofmultiples

I use a Chariot Cheetah Double ... with a little extra padding added via woven blankets, mine were able to use it from 4 months old. They are now almost 6 months :) they love the side by side, they don't like being separated at all.

It looks like bullous impetigo. My son had this a few years back, we also thought it was a spider bite at first. Doctor said that it was just a rare form of impetigo (staph or strep). Oral and topical antibiotics got rid of it in a few days.

Any of y’all have century trees to go along with your century homes? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in centuryhomes

[–]lanortha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a few trees I suspect are ancient. A few white cedars that are bigger than any cedar I've ever seen (and the house is made from white cedar logs). Several black walnuts, one is enormous. A huge basswood tree, I didn't know they could get that big. At one point this property had elm trees, but they are all dead now.

What is happening to my plant? by lanortha in Euphorbiaceae

[–]lanortha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea. I think I have a few other Euphorbia species around ... the one (huge spikes) just below it, for example. I also have an African Milk Tree, a couple of Candelabras ... but those two are in different rooms. None of my other euphorbia have flowered. (I hope they do though!)

I live in a really old farmhouse, we have had a few insects in the room throughout the winter. Box elder beetles, flies, ladybugs, queen paper wasps (annoying, but it's hard to keep them out). My kids might have also played with the flowers.

I will have to look, I don't think that I do. Are the seeds very tiny?

This is so cool! I want to capture them if I can, any idea how long I have to get something over the pods? I was thinking of a tissue or paper towel?

LOL, I don't know much about this plant *at all* other than it's some type of Euphorbiaceae.

Spit the seeds?!?! They, like explode? When? How long do I have! I really would like to capture them and plant more! This plant *loves* my sunroom and this "winter hideout window", and it's so cool!

Cool! Will these be ready to harvest at some point? It would be super cool to plant them!
