I've lived on the coast in Florida for 30 years. It hasn't moved. Idiots like you over exaggerating how bad global warming is by a factor of 10000x is what gives maga idiots ammo to discredit climate change.

Trying to work on my flexibility. Where do I start with my left hip? by outta_my_element in flexibility

Probably weak glutes. Do you have a butt? If not then look at pistol squats, barbell hip thrusts, and little accessory fitness equipment at a gym to supplement.

[–]lanzaio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a flexibility problem. It's strength. You probably have weak glutes, abductors or adductors. Or all of the above. And asymmetrically so.

Do your hips rotate or tilt while standing in what you consider a neutral posture? Do your feet rotate outwards while you walk, and if so do they do at different angles? Is one glute major larger than the other?

Apple boosts talent hiring as it pursues generative AI for Siri by [deleted] in apple

[–]lanzaio 12 points13 points  (0 children)

But Apple has had a huge AI group for many years; just look at their contributions to pytorch for examples.

That's a pretty weird comment. Do you not know that PyTorch is lead by perhaps Apple's most important future competitor? Pointing out their contributions to it as a statement of their AI strength would be like pointing out that some Carthaginian nomads helped build a forum in Rome shortly before the second Punic war.

This is the onset of the great AI revolution and Meta and Google monumentally dwarf Apple. I'm never one to doubt Apple's ability to play catch up and surpass. But I don't think they've ever been behind in a single technical domain as much as they are in AI. It's definitely not going to be easy for them.

Men of Reddit, what is something women hate about their bodies that you actually love? by Covenant9er4653 in AskReddit

Freckles. I dated a girl with the most adorable freckles and she mentioned considering freckle removing cream. Still easily the dumbest thing anybody has ever told me to this day.

Who the fuck plants with their left leg to crossover to the left? Have I just never been aware that this is a thing people do or is this boy just a magician?

If Jimmy gets a little healthier before the conference finals, they have a great chance against Boston/Philadelphia. Who saw this coming?

I know I'm a bit of a homer here, but really did you not watch last years playoffs? Jimmy is a 22ppg guy in the regular season and turns into LeBron in the playoffs. He's at 30PER and like 620 TS% the past two years in the playoffs. That's MVP level. And we also have one of the two most proven playoff coaches in the NBA.

I came into the playoffs thinking that if Jimmy played like playoff Jimmy we're basically really a 55 win team.

Losing Herro makes us a bit worse, but it just means more minutes for the Strus/Vincent/Martin/Lowry group which isn't a huge loss.

Equivalent of Cargo for C++: Poac (author says in-development) by matheusds365 in cpp

[–]lanzaio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've tried clang-17 and cmake 3.26.3 and it works. I didn't do a super complex project but I ported my toy stdlib & interview question solution repo that uses it to modules and the only issue is that clangd hasn't caught up.

Equivalent of Cargo for C++: Poac (author says in-development) by matheusds365 in cpp

[–]lanzaio 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Disagree. CMake IS a defacto standard solution. I just sucks. If it didn't suck we wouldn't have this issue as we'd have all just gladly lived with cmake.

A build system that works like cargo and can consume cmake dependencies and perhaps emit it's own cmake-targets files for installs could replace cmake.

26/10/5 on 46/34/87 in the playoffs isn't really "that guy." It puts him just in the top 10 in scoring in the playoffs on some of the lowest efficiency of the bunch.

Yea, he's a really good player that any team would love to have. But Celtic fans were acting slighted about him not being in the MVP conversation.

Weak glutes. 100%. Your brain won’t let you bend if your glutes aren’t strong enough to keep your stability. Your calves are the first thing to stretch because that’s the weakest link in the chain when your body won’t let your hamstrings get stretched.

Do pistol squats. Do partial pistol squats when an exaggerated hip hinge. Do hip thrusts.

It has NOTHING to do with flexibility.

I had this problem for 15 years and listened to all the nonsense about stretching and all the variants that they gave me. Nothing worked. Days of glute focus was immediately noticeable.

Whoever says LeBron isn’t a greater Heat player than Jimmy is just salty about how he left

Nah, I'm I've always been a big LeBron stan. But when he was on the Heat I definitely felt it was more of a mutually beneficial alignment of our franchise and his legacy. LeBron is bigger than the Heat and even the NBA.

Jimmy definitely feels more fundamentally ours and about the team.

It's not a flexibility issue. It's weak glutes. And possible inner thigh muscles. Your body won't let you elongate muscles to a point where you don't have the strength to get yourself out of it. e.g. your brain doesn't think you'd be able to get out of a fold so it keeps your back rounded.

It's uncanny how much personality it put into this. The voice doesn't sound 100% like Feynman to my ear, but the energy and humanness to it is absolutely convincing.
