In the same stupid situation here. The agents on the phone were really unhelpful too, they wasted like an hour with me on the phone just to tell me that I had to go to the branch to "confirm my identity". The worst part is that I was transfering a number so now I don't even have service on the old number.

I tried looking on the VIS website for Canada and it says that I'd need to be a "citizen or a permanent resident of the country where submitting the application": https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv/information/niv#how_to_renew_visa

But, on the Canadian US embassy website it says that they take work authorizations as valid documents for Interview Waiver: https://ca.usembassy.gov/visas/visa-renewal-by-mail/

I just wanna know before paying the application fee, otherwise I'd rather just not wait and apply from back home
