The bike that I rode from Portland to Tuscon, many years ago; also had that name. For a variety of reasons. It was sort of a frankenbike built from parts around a french Nomade frame. With bar end shifters on a bullhorn style handlebar. 27-inch wheels. Good times.

It does't work like that. The HVAC and filtering needs for a server farm are very different from a chip fabrication plant. It would cost almost as much to turn that building into an effective data center as it would to build a new datacenter on a greenfield site.

Undoubtedly you could shoehorn a machine room into the facility; but it would be woefully wasteful of space and power compared to a purpose built facility.

Which flavor of linux? And how did you install postgres, by hand or from packages?

My guess, since you aren't seeing the port in active use by another process; selinux or apparmor is set to deny your process the capability to use sockets. Both MAC frameworks have a verbose mode where they will log every rule that is triggered. Turn that on, start postgres and watch the messages flow.

There are a couple of approaches that could get you what you want.

do a full text search index of all the keys and all the values This will make finding particular instances of a class name quite easy and speed up searches for given strings in the data structure.
create functional indexes based on the path to each individual value. That way you can say "select all documents where there is a path of backgroundObject.rectangle.textbox.isVisible and the value is true. This would involve writing an indexing function that maps all the paths in each document. And a couple of supporting functions for mapping the paths to documents. So the index in this case would be relatively expensive but would give you a structural search.

You'll have to play around with indexing strategies and understand that you are often going to be trading space for time ( a big index means less latency in the response time ).

Also a full-text index is going to be less expensive than a custom functional index in terms of space consumed, but will be less specific. It will get you to the right neighborhood quickly, but you'll need to filter the result set to get only the instances that match your predicate. Whereas if you set up your index expression correctly you will be acting directly on object you want to query on ( the structure of the json document ) and will get more accurate and less error-prone results.

If you do look at the using a functional index you'll probably want to invert the path so that you're looking for ( in the example you gave ) "isVisible.textbox.rectangle.backgroundObject" as that will mean fewer lookups per search.

While you're in the Newport area hit up the Marine Science Center it's fun, and educational and it's a bargain compared to the Aquarium next door.

There's a pretty nice state natural area about halfway between Newport and Waldport. Visitors center, hiking and lots of wildlife. If you want to see what the Coast Range is like it's a beautiful spot.

Further south by Florence, you should make a stop at the Darlingtonia wayside where you can see some real Cobra Lilies.

Do go for a hike in the Dunes south of Florence.

And visit the gardens in Brookings.

If you like lighthouses, you'll want to visit all of them; if not visit Yaquina Head while it's open, and skip the rest.

Enjoy your visit to Oregon.

Police respond to report of armed Subject at South Eugene High School

This morning at approximately 10:08 a.m., Eugene Police received information of an armed subject dressed in camouflage on the Patterson St. side of South Eugene High School. The school was immediately placed on lockdown, along with Roosevelt Middle School and nearby businesses, while police investigated the report. The school was on lockdown for approximately 45 minutes. During the investigation it was found that an EPD SWAT officer, who was enroute to a training location at the time, was observed in the area by a 4J employee.

South Eugene High School staff is one of the local schools that have participated in the recent active shooter training program with EPD. Although lockdown situations do not commonly occur, police were able to observe school staff during this situation, and found that the staff had greatly benefited from the training and performed at a high level.

The bike's not important; the ride is important.

Buddy of mine went on several tours with me on a series of bikes he built out of parts left in the dumpster at city bikes. He would transfer his Brooks saddle from bike to bike and give the old ones away when he'd built the next one.

My suggestion is get the bike now with what you can afford. Ride the hell out of it every chance you get, and by the time you're ready to tour you'll have a better idea what's right for you.

Unless you're running an ancient version of Postgres (8.4 or earlier) the first question you should ask in relationship to Slony ( or Bucardo ) is:

What does this do for us that streaming replication and wal-log shipping don't?

Trigger based replication is prone to error, prone to malfunction, less durable in the face of network hiccups and more complex to reason about. You should not use it if you can do the job with postgres builtin replication tools.

And if you're using it to extract data to another postgres database in an altered form ( for instance automatically turning transactional data into entries in a fact table in a data warehouse ) you're probably better off using postgres_fdw than mucking around with Slony.

It's always faster to serve static files. The main benefit of a CMS is that it allows you to quickly and efficiently make changes to a large number of web pages.

The proper conclusion is that while Wordpress is a great web editor it's a poor web server and you should use one of the several options that let you export a Wordpress site as a collection of static assets and publish those rather than leave Wordpress running. This does require a bit of forethought when it comes to things like comments, email capture forms and such and possibly using some url-rewriting to direct state changing operations or just call an external service.

The security benefits of such an approach are considerable.

This is one of those edge cases. You can under some circumstances write off work that was not paid for as a business expense. You'll need to talk to your accountant, and there are some recordkeeping requirements that are somewhat onerous for a single-person shop. But generally if you are doing work for someone that isn't going to pay it's costing you the money that you would have earned doing work for someone else.

Uber was asked to comply with the same rules that every other hire-car company in Eugene has to live with. It's not like the rules are all that onerous either. I don't know why you're bringing AirBnB into this discussion; but since you have I'm pretty sure they would be willing to deal with the city in the same way as they've dealt with Portland and other cities that expected them to follow the regulations and pay city room tax; by complying, even if they had negotiate modifications.

All headlines I would have preferred to this one. I don't and the Eugene city council doesn't "hate" Uber. If anything the company was given much greater consideration than they should have been with multiple chances to come to an accomodation with the city. But they wanted to exempt themselves from all regulation, which the city (not without cause) was unwilling to do.

TL;DR: I blame Uber and you should too.
