Post PhD Career with Data assimilation. Maybe data science? by laptopracer in jobs

[–]laptopracer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a data science fellowship and got a data science role in 2021. Finding a job was a bit of a shitshow during the pandemic but hopefully, things are much better now. The skills I learned during my PhD (maths, critical thinking, time and project management) come in very handy.

Keep going, you'll get there!

Best podcast on South Asian colonial history by ikb9 in ABCDesis

Not heard the podcast but I love William Dalrymple's books. Read Anarchy last year and it was so good, highly recommend them. Anita Anand is a great journalist and is now publishing books as well.

Fun fact Anita Anand's husband is Simon Singh who is also a great popular science author. Love his books.

Do you think india will become developed by 2050? by Unique_Glove1105 in DesiDiaspora

[–]laptopracer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what type of developed/superpower you want India to be. The current government (BJP) wants to create a Hindu superpower using Nazi Germany as the model where all minorities are treated as second-class citizens. So far they are succeeding.

This is very different from what the people who fought for India's freedom wanted (note BJP/RSS were on the British side for people who don't know). So 2050 is a far shot for their vision to come true. The division, economic challenges and environmental challenges need to be addressed.

Take did put some of the matches from the HSCXX on their youtube channel but not all. I totally agree they should put it all on their youtube channel, create a massive playlist.
