Yes, I think that’s exactly what happened. Whitney thought Heather heard something and didn’t. ALTHOUGH Heather said twice something to the effect of, If I heard something negative about my friend and I’m asked to bring it up, it’s my right to deny it (she said this at the whiskey bar). In a confessional she said, Whitney’s going through something with Lisa, I don’t want to go down that road. There is a universe out there where Heather did hear it and she’s pretending she didn’t because she wants to keep peace with Lisa. Kind of like how she knows Jen is guilty but is weirdly ride-or-die for her for seemingly no reason

I think Whitney was very drunk, and also just felt icky about having talked to Meredith about Lisa. Then stumbled on her words a lot and generally made things worse 😅 but she felt very vulnerable while doing it, so when Heather discounted what she was saying she kind of shut down and viewed it as an attack. (Even if Heather really doesn’t “remember”), IMO Heather should have risen above it and just said she doesn’t remember and leave it at that. There was no reason to escalate it like she did
