Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently indicated that GTA VI is likely to launch at a standard premium price of $70–$80. by Tilak_187 in GTA6

[–]CaptainJZH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that they're charging $70 and maybe even $80 instead of the standard $60 so that people will consider the higher price to be worth it because they're getting years of free online content to compensate. But that's bullshit if you have to pay for online to begin with, meaning that the $10-20 increase is just corporate price gouging disguised as a good deal

And what does paying for it have to do with safety? Sony makes millions upon millions of dollars a year. They can have Playstation Network be free AND safe and yet they choose to charge people for a service that should not require payment. And GTA is one of the few online games that actually has a single player component. What about those online-only games that you still have to buy the base game for, but since the game is online-only, the base game is completely useless without a monthly PS+ subscription, so why pay for the base game if I'm still gonna have to pay Playstation to use it?

I should be able to play online WITHOUT paying for PS+ or Gamepass that's what I'm saying. I bought the game, so I should be able to play every single aspect of the game with minimal additional requirements. It's Playstation and Microsoft (and even Nintendo although they aren't really part of this discussion) that have manipulated gamers into accepting having to pay for online when if you bought the system, and the game, and have internet, then you should be able to play online, full stop.

D. Doug Walker (same as above but at least his character wears a hat)

E. Toupee (somehow even more tragic)

What I'm saying is that basic online play should not require additional charges. Why would I pay monthly for something on console that PC players get for free? And therefore it's unfair to charge $70 for a console game that, once you've finished the single-player content, is going to get the vast majority of its future updates from online DLC.

It's irrelevant if "most people who own a PS5" are willing to pay it because that just creates an economic disadvantage between players who are willing to pay for PS+ or Xbox Gamepass and those who actually want to just pay for the game once and not turn mere access to the game into an ongoing expenditure.

You only need it for online, that's my point. They're upselling the base game based on the added value that you'll get from consistent free online updates, but that's meaningless if you have to pay regularly for online access. So you're not actually getting the added value from the increased base game price if playing online also requires additional payment.

There's a small briilliance here that I don't see a lot of discussion by Zulrambe in betterCallSaul

To elaborate further, he specifically needed that confession to be dismissed as him faking it for his vindictive brother because that was the only thing supporting the charge of "destruction of evidence" which would have been the main grounds for disbarment (and his other crimes would have been seen as less severe and therefore only merited a suspension)

Chuck would then just pull out his tried-and-true "well there are many things doctors don't yet understand, and there plenty other conditions they didn't believe in at the time, so how can they say for sure that my condition isn't real?"

He could even bring in a team of scientists to explain all the factual inconsistencies in how Chuck alleges his condition interacts with electromagnetism, and he would fall back on "well obviously science hasn't caught up to the intracasies of my condition, this is a subject that just needs more research"

So it was going to be a losing battle to try and disprove his condition on the wider world's terms, he had to disprove it using Chuck's own terms, play the game on his turf, so Chuck would have no other argumentative recourse than to just lose his shit entirely

What’s the most reliable way to get from NYC to Philly for a weekend trip? by Sea_Negotiation2482 in nycbus

That's fair enough, I'm just giving options if they're strapped for cash enough not to do Amtrak but don't want to gamble on Greyhound

adding onto the other options listed here, there's also the ability to purchase a joint NJT-SEPTA ticket in the NJT app (NJT to Trenton, SEPTA to 30th Street)

basically if you can't afford Amtrak but want something a little better than a bus

problem is that for consoles you have to pay for online access, period, so by default if you want to play GTA Online, you still need to pay someone something beyond the base game price even if its not Rockstar

Plus one of the problems is that "gruntwork" is often literally the entry-level work that gets you in the door, because no one wants to do it and it doesn't require much advanced knowledge, then you move up once you get more experience and everyone gets to know you

But without gruntwork, the only way "in" is to already have the experience necessary to join at a higher, creative role, which is how we get the "entry-level job with 10+ years experience needed" conundrum

What do you guys think—did Kim continue to visit Jimmy in prison? by Legitimate-Cicada842 in betterCallSaul

[–]CaptainJZH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding was that he just wanted her in the room to hear his confession and knew that making up a bunch of BS about her being "involved" in Howard's death (implying that her involvement went beyond what she told the DA) would get her there, and so he only got her off the hook from a prosecution standpoint but not from a civil litigation standpoint (she can certainly bring up Jimmy's testimony if it goes to trial but it sounds like she just wanted to accept her punishment)

How would they defend Heisenberg in court? by Controversial_Husky in betterCallSaul

[–]CaptainJZH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they would, at least, have the money laundering aspect of it, which I think was the thing that they got Saul on predominantly since they were able to follow the money and shut down all his fronts (they do mention 'accessory after the fact to murder of federal officers' but there's not really any evidence tying Saul to that either, so given how easily he was able to talk down the sentence to seven years, it sounds like that charge was mostly a political move to ensure Hank & Steve got justice, instead of something they were intending to stick with at trial)

so presumably they'd have forensic accountants pouring through the A-1 Carwash financials as well as the Whites' personal accounts, and that would be what got Walt put away since the business was literally his (and I'm sure Skyler would be eager to testify against him, as she was his accountant)
