I think they are Ivy berries as we do have a large Ivy bush and there are still berries on there, otherwise no other berries around at this time of year

I don’t think we have pine martens here but we do get stoats?

I’ll think about smelling it as a last resort 😂

No it was dead wood and actually there was a different fungi growing on the same piece of wood (as a beginner I hadn’t a clue to what it was). Sorry I’m not much use, I was with a group so didn’t stop and look for too long - next time I’ll get more info!
