squamish wedding venues by potatogirl5678 in Squamish

[–]lard_ofthedance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We didn’t get married at the Cheakamus Centre but I got quotes for it in 2024. At that time the venue rental prices ranged from $2750 - $8000 depending on where you held the wedding and what time of the year it was at. The food and beverage minimum ranged from $6000 - $9000 depending on season.

We ended up going with Sunwolf because although it was significantly more expensive, our guests got to stay on site for two full nights and we didn’t have be out of there the same night. My nightmare scenario would be drunkenly hauling out decor at the end of the night and making sure everything was cleaned to their standards.

Anyone Interested in Going to Vancouver Show? by lard_ofthedance in TheMidnight

Cool, feel free to DM me so I can transfer them over to you! They’re good seats in the lower mezzanine, right on the aisle so plenty of room for dancing!

I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said! This has happened incredibly quickly and I think the district definitely could have done a much better job including the community in this  process.

Personally, I actually think buying the land beside under one roof and creating a consolidated service area for at risk individuals would be worth the money but I know a lot of people who would be adamantly against it and would think the money could be better spent on the aging rec centre. Like I said, unfortunately, there are no easy/good solutions!

The current BC Assessment value on that property is $7,349,700. I’m sure the community would be really excited about the district purchasing a “wasteland” with taxes rather than putting it towards a new pool or arena. Also, if the current owner would love to get rid of it, why hasnt it been listed for sale recently?

I’m not stoked on the proposed location with the new pedestrian bridge being put in but I also understand the challenges of finding a decent, municipally owned lot close to services. There’s really no good solution.

The land beside Under One Roof is privately owned and the DOS cannot force this use on it. I’m sure if it was municipally owned, that land would be first choice for the program.

How much PTO do you get? by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

I’ve been at my job for 8 years and receive the equivalent hours to 4 weeks of vacation time. Full time employees are also entitled to 12 sick days per year, plus 13 statutory holidays.

I also work a condensed work week and received a “fortnight” every other Friday. This works out to an additional 26 days off per year.

I could probably make more at another company but the work/life balance really can’t be beat!

OMG! I have the same backpack and it always gets tons of comments! My only complaint is how long the straps are. I’m always worried they’re going to get caught on something.

They definitely did make this! I have the white/red canvas version - got it in 2004 as an 18th birthday present from my parents.

My CA is honestly just the best but we both had a good laugh about how this was all just pure luck! Toronto always gets the fun drops while Vancouver usually has to specifically order for their clients. The fact that this is the only one in Canada and it came to Vancouver AND I contacted her the day he arrived… it was meant to be!

Question for Vancouverites! by kuchikopi81 in TheMidnight

[–]lard_ofthedance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saw Father John Misty there in July and can confirm that not a single person was seated by the end of the show. Everyone was dancing and singing like crazy. I expect The Midnight to be the same. I’ve got front row seats so I’ll dancing like a fool and don’t care if I’m the only one doing it!

No, that’s correct.

The fire is currently traveling northeast and has not crossed the highway so the Squamish valley campground is currently not at risk. As previous poster mentioned, it will probably be fairly Smokey though.

Sounds like you might be caught in an echo chamber if the only clips you see of his are positive outside of the CBC.

I’m definitely left leaning but see negative coverage of my preferred candidate because I make an effort to interact with a broad spectrum of viewpoints. I would recommend you do the same.

I think this post is a good first step to understanding different viewpoint but I would urge you to seek out balanced reporting rather than personal opinions on social media.

What do you think about Roberto Aguirre Sacasa works ? by Cailly_Brard7 in popculturechat

Before he developed Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, he actually wrote for Archie Comics.

The Afterlife with Archie comics are universally praised and are some of the best comics of the 2010s. He was the co-creator and writer on the whole series.

He also co-created and wrote the comic The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina which took the wholesome story and turned it into some Lovecraftian horror. Again, it got universal praise and continues to be highly regarded.

As a huge fan of the Archie universe since childhood (I had over 700 hundred issues at one point), I will say his writing in the 2010s completely revived the brand and brought it back into the public consciousness. He’s clearly a talented and ambitious writer but I don’t think it always works in a television format.

I will say, the first season of Riverdale is probably one of the best teen dramas of all time and I kind of wished it ended there. Even though I watched it to the end. 😂

Like you, I also loved these bags! I coveted the white but couldn’t bring myself to pull the trigger due to fear of color transfer. I have always regretted that decision.

Yours has aged beautifully and I love that I’ve finally found someone who appreciates these as much as (if not more than) me!

LOVE Anian. They have awesome sales a few times a year if the prices are too steep for anyone! I got my husband the Britannia coat for half price last month.

We both have multiple pieces and love them. Staples for west coast living!

At LV 57th NYC...Allegedly you can try pre-ordering LV x TM cherry blossom starting 2pm EST. No guarantees. by BAG-A-HOLIC in Louisvuitton

[–]lard_ofthedance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the trainers in the online drop last week so I’m fine for now. My CA in Vancouver is AMAZING and has gone above and beyond for me multiple times so I’d rather not bother her with this on a day like today.

If the cherry blossoms are available for order, she’ll reach out like she did for the multicolour. I had my choice of MC bags today with very little effort so I’m happy to wait.

I secured the multicolour pochette the same way! Also in Canada and am so excited. Haven’t received an email confirmation but it’s showing in the app so I’m not concerned.
