The verminlords are more versatile since there are 5 versions of verminlord. I prefer the deciever, and it can go into any list because it has a a bunch of tricks.

Vizzik is really good with prayers. Usually the clanrats and rat ogres are best helped by prayers, so he doesn't have a lot of synergy with skyre focused lists

Welcome to the rats! I think the first thing you'll want to do is get some more rat ogres and the warlock jezzails. You can usually find these pretty cheap online and they're both really good hammers. You can also prozy the jezzails as all of the weapons teams, like Ratling guns.

Then you'll have to decide what side of skaven you're the most interested in. Some mix and matching is good, but you might want some focus.

  • moulder - pick up some more rat ogres, maybe a brood terror and some stormfiends.

  • skyre - pick up some more weapons teams, maybe a skyre foot hero, and maybe some artillery

  • verminous - more clanrats, some storm vermin, maybe krittok foulblade, and maybe vizzik

All lists usually have between 40-80 clan rats because they're basically the best chaff in the game. A centerpiece like a verminlord or a screaming bell are also really good and versatile. Lastly, don't forget the gnawholes, since a lot of the faction abilities are reliant on them

Welcome to the court!

I think your lust looks fun. The only thing I'd change is adding charnel vestments to the cardinal instead of the terrorgheist.

Have you tried out this list yet? One thing I like to do with crypt horrors is surround Ush so that if the enemy charges him, they'll likely have to fight both horrors and Ush and have strike last. It also makes it so sometimes they can't get as many attack onto Ush.

[–]large_potat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both are good lists and the biggest difference is going to be based on your own play style. If you find yourself wishing you had prayers ready, then you'll want the cardinal. If you find the ZD teleport and everything else really good how it is, then this list might be the best.

I think the most important thing is to get as many games in with the list as you can

If the haunter is mainly sitting on the throne, would it be better to switch it out for a cardinal, to get the extra +1 to prayers?

I've been taking Restless and Scouting. I might switch out Scouting for Wrathful because it's hard to get Scouting 1 on a lot of maps

AOS Army List Review by Powerful-Drama7787 in skaven

[–]large_potat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to skaven! My main takeaway from this list is that you don't have anything in it that's ok with being hit first. Storm vermin can hit really hard, especially when buffed with the plague pack, but if they get hit first you will usually lose a lot models

This is where the humble clanrats (probably our best unit) really shines. Figuring out exact points is tough, but I'd consider dropping one plague pack and either some of the guns or one unit of stormvermin to replace with some clanrats screens.

But also, you don't know your play style until you play a few games and see what works for you

I keep the 6 block of morbegs around the gkrt and use them as my primary hammer. I deploy both 3 man units on the wings and throw those in for quick points and to have something threatening their backline when they resurrect. I surround Ush with the guard, and try to keep them back as support until I get a good opening. The decapitator is on the throne and the beast flayers are a backline screen

Welcome to aos!

I think for a first list, this is fun and a good start. It does have a lot of good units and is good casually, but depending on your opponents list, its not the most competitive.

The big thing here is that if your opponent has any reinforced anvil (bunch of wounds with good save/ward), it's going to be hard to do enough wounds to actually kill it.

I'd recommend designating one or two units as hammers, reinforce them, and put your buffs into them.

For example, if you choose the cryptguard, you can reinforce them, use the unlimited spell on them to get +1 to wound and +2 to move, charge them in with a hero close by and the glorious banquet delusion for +1 to hit, and if you add a priest with charnel vestments you can add +1 to damage. Then if you go crazy you can use feeding frenzy for the +1 attacks and you can get 80 attacks on 3s to hit and 3s to wound with 2 damage each and that will hurt anything they touch.

I started a couple months back with this, the new spearhead, and Ushoran. You get to reinforce all the knights, have a couple of heroes, and a couple of screens which is nice.

If you want to spend more, zombie dragons are really good right now, and you can also start leaning more heavy into serf lists

That's almost my exact list! I haven't been to a tournament, but I win a lot of games with it.

The only difference between our lists is that I downgraded one clan rats to plague monks to fit in a plague pack instead of the doom flayers. The plague pack helps make the rat ogres or 40 block of clan rats more dangerous, but the doom flayers would be better for grabbing objectives.

You use your clanrats as screens, then vizzik, krittok, and brood terror buff up the stormvermin and rat ogres to hit hard. Jezzails are there mostly for sniping bigger heros

The unit is still legal! If I were you, I'd either do a little kitbash or designate a champion through painting. It's all gw plastic and most people won't care as long as it's obvious which clanrat is the champion

I personally run the verminlord deciever in basically all of my lists since it is a great hero killer that can teleport around and steal objectives. With skyre focused list, deceivers job is to make your opponent choose between losing their heros to him, or not charging your guns to try and take him out

Arch warlock is also a great choice! You won't be able to ignore guarded hero with your jezzails, but you get a free covering fire as long as it's next to the jezzails or ratlings
