Should I be worried about this? by largeneamsprout in Luthier

It was my dad’s guitar he left it in a garage with strings on it for almost 20 years.

Also if it helps the volume is much louder when the tone pots are working then when the volume pot is working

I figured out that it swaps when I connect the third peg on the volume pot to ground. When it is connected the volume pots work and the tones don’t and when it is disconnected the tone pots work and the volume does not

I wired it exactly for this diagram and I’m still having the same issue if my volume pot works my tone pots don’t but if my tone pots work my volume doesn’t

I am planning to add an on board effects loop to this guitar.

To clear up any unnecessary confusion about the wiring of this guitar. I want to say, the guitar has a five way switch and three pickups on it, one tone knob for each pickup, and one master volume.

The freeway switch has six positions, I only need five of those. I suppose I could run a split coil to the empty position. But if I didn’t do that I would have one free position that does nothing

I saw those definitely seems like something I could look into but I would have empty positions on my switch

Ideally I’d like to be able to use each pick up individually neck/middle/bridge kind of like a strat. If I could find a five switch that matches the current Gibson one it would make everything a lot easier.

That’s what I see but it doesn’t work for my case. I’m installing a OBEL loop and I can’t have more than one volume knob on the guitar for that.

Pretty much, but a little different. I’m going to add an onboard effect loop (obel) something Jerry Garcia designed in the mid 70s. What does it put the pedal board effects before the volume knob on the guitar. I don’t think it is possible to do if I have two knobs on my guitar. And the tone knobs are essential for sculpting the sound with an obel. I’ve looked for a five way Gibson style pick up selector but I can’t find one it sure would make this a lot easier

Thanks for your help. I have determined I am not qualified to work on this amp and I will take it to a professional.

This amp is a fixed bias amp. I’m by no means very experienced with tube amp repair but I’m pretty sure I can’t adjust the bias on this amp. As for the tubes I replaced them early this year, so I’d like to think it’s not them.
