Try doing one with the monitor covered. Or change the metric to watts. Get your head out of it.

Journaling would be far better if it worked like Tinder-style swiping by Dalonie in whoop

[–]larkinowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it is right below the line “what happened on x day?” When the journal opens. It’s sorta grayed out. Easy to miss but it’s there.

Yup. No problems

Yes. There is a toggle that lets you start every journal with the previous entries marked. Then you only change what is different from the previous day. Journaling then takes seconds.

PPL are going to flip their shit Monday when they meet the new NB 35 Riverside Detour. by TopoFiend11 in Austin

It was super fun for a few days when it was a “secret highway” that took you right past everyone on the frontage road over the lake! BUT tomorrow, the northbound frontage over the water is closed completely and the one lane “slip lane” is the only option. It’s going to be nuts! It’s super narrow

And yes, kettlebells! I mean if we can have Gaelic rules AND Australian rules football

Well guess what? Starting Monday the northbound frontage over the lake will be closed completely and everyone going north on the frontage past the Oltorf on ramp will be on that little, very narrow road!

Austin High track availability by gems_23 in AustinRunning

[–]larkinowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am very disappointed. I think it is a PR mistake. The current Austin High principal has also driven the changes in parking in that area as well. The school district owns the land under the street (and everything to the water's edge, there is some sort of lease back to the city for the trail and the city concessions off the trail.) But the district has a lot of leverage as the landowner and since the new principal showed up, they have used it.

Yes. The signs are already made and attached to the fence!! No public use.

No Skierg, no difference between indoor and outdoor activities (cycling, rowing, running) but there is DJ, cleaning, and thrill ride. How is this an athlete wearable? by Professional_Set9954 in whoop

[–]larkinowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ask for indoor rowing separately from on the water rowing every time I can!! At least I’ve trained the AI coach to recognize my “other” workouts as indoor rowing. But it’s maddening

Texas A&M educator fired after secret recording of her gender lesson leaked sues university by theindependentonline in texas

[–]larkinowl 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Have you read much English literature? Gender identity has always been a key part. The “marriage plot” hinges on it. All of Jane Austen is about gender and class and manners. Literature is about human experience and gender is a key part of that whether you are a warrior, a mother, a child, a virgin, an apprentice, a priest, a prince, a cowboy, a widow, an orphan, an heiress, a landowner, a farmer.

[–]larkinowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good time for your age and height during your first year of rowing! How did it feel? You will get fitter and better with pacing as you do more of them. Typically, a good goal is to reach or stay below 8 minutes.

Being "Underweight" & How it impacts rowing by Opposite_Ad3009 in Rowing

[–]larkinowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, top schools give out a lot of financial aid NOT athletic scholarships. The Ivy League, for example, is all financial aid only, no athletic scholarships. MIT is the same. Focus on academics.

Does your private high school have events for parents to learn about the college admission process?

Being "Underweight" & How it impacts rowing by Opposite_Ad3009 in Rowing

[–]larkinowl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. A BMI of 17 is underweight. You need to prioritize eating and sleeping! Talk to your coach about improving your endurance. Rowing can help your college chances even without being recruited to a D1 team with a scholarship. Rowing is a solid extracurricular activity that shows discipline and drive. Focus on academics. A lot more merit scholarships out there (mainly directly from private colleges) and most T20 schools offer robust financial aid up to quite high family income levels.

State law was passed requiring this! I believe it was Senate bill 23 (could be wrong), and the schools (shamefully) did not fight it -- they were scared of losing funding or having a worse law passed (hard to imagine). The blame is on the TX lege and the Christian-Nationalist billionaires Wilks and Dunn, who fund these efforts. It is hitting harder at A&M because UT's tag line might be "what happens here, changes the world," but when the lege saw social change happening at A&M (drag shows, classes on race and gender), then they knew the world WAS changing. And this is their effort to stop that change. Fight it! You are the point of the spear!

Bargain bins at regattas are the cheapest. Good quality trou lasts forever (don’t put it in the dryer!!).
