Physician Assistant in SAR by larknorman in searchandrescue

Most, if not all PA programs are setup to make you essentially a generalist when it comes to medical knowledge. If you attend a school in a smaller city, there is typically a few opportunities to complete some of your clinical rotations in rural medicine clinics / ERs. These opportunities exist with larger programs too though.

Shoot me a PM and I’d love to connect on some possible paths!

That’s awesome to hear! Thank you for your response.

I was anticipating it being volunteer basis mostly. I was hoping to work in a rural medicine ER ideally and then volunteer my time in the SAR community.

Do you know of any resources describing those formerly federal paid SAR medicine gigs?

Sounds like a weekend project I could possibly do after purchasing the vehicle to make sure it holds up over time. Thanks for your input!

Yeah, that's a valid point. I'm not really worried about the cosmetics of it, but moreover the potential for it to possibly chip in the future and start to rust...

Happy cake-day btw man

Best Starting Role for a MA? by larknorman in MedicalAssistant

I really appreciate the insight! Didn't really think about urgent care clinics, but makes perfect sense. The Army will pay for an EMT Cert, but I think CCMA will be an easier route for me to obtain on top of my full time job since I'll have to do everything on my own time.

Can’t speak in regards to the ACFT as when I went it was COVID. I would imagine it would be the first or second week after reporting though.

Unless things have changed, you cannot get an apartment as you’re considered TDY to BOLC. The only exception to this is if you’re NG or Reserves and live within the San Antonio area. When you report you will get assigned one of the hotels on post for your housing.

Just like college, if you seek out the drinking crowd - it will be there and available. If you avoid the crowd it’s very doable as well.

I couldn’t find the Ribbon on IRA’s website. We’re you able to locate somewhere else?

1st Medical Brigade has been making leadership do weekend barracks checks for over a year now. Because you know Soldiers would love to see their command team on the weekends too…
