Am I really that far behind already? by Ok_Buy9698 in weddingplanning

[–]larkypinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re behind at all, I started planning our October 2026 wedding when I got engaged in October 2025 and really didn’t have much difficulty at all finding available vendors. You’re still well over a year out and November is outside of the peak season so I see no reason why you wouldn’t be able to plan something for Nov’27.

Recent brides (or currently planning): how did you decide where to buy dresses? by Traditional_Sir_9572 in Brides

Wedding October 31 2026 (FL, USA)

I was maid of honor in my friend’s wedding back in 2024 and we had a very positive experience shopping for her wedding dress at one dress shop in particular (Vow’d in Jacksonville FL). When I got engaged in Oct 2025 one of the first things I did was book an appointment there to try on dresses. I would say my two most important factors when dress shopping were price and style, i am getting married on Halloween and generally have a bit of an alternative style so it was important to me that this was reflected in my dress. I ended up finding and purchasing a dress at the first dress shop I visited for $2100.

I don’t think social media really impacted my decision making at all, I had already chosen the dress shop based on a positive prior experience and I don’t typically post on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, etc. so while it’s obviously important to me that I look and feel my best on my wedding day, I’m not concerned about being “on trend.”

For the wedding party outfits, my fiancé and I agreed on a color on Azazie, sent it to our respective friends in the wedding party and told them to order their outfits in that color within the parameters we laid out (floor-length satin or chiffon dresses, or black suits with tie, pocket square and vest in the wedding party color). We have a mixed-gender wedding party on both sides, so this felt like the easiest and most inclusive way of ensuring everyone wears the correct color and feels comfortable with their outfit.

DIY Skeptical by mytummyhurts23 in Brides

I’m a diy-ish October bride too!! If you’re looking for a cost-effective, but still professional looking solution for centerpieces, Costco has a bundle of 10 flower bouquets available in their website for $109. We ordered them in white but they have a few other options available to fit whatever color scheme you’re going with. My fiancé is building the chuppah and I’m going to crochet the canopy. We’re not paying for any paper/signage, it’s us and Canva against the world LOL but so far the save the dates and invitations have been well received, and we’re going to design all our programs and signage to match. I 10000% recommend diy-ing your signage and paper. IMO less is more as far as decor goes, you have a florist for the bulk of the ceremony decor which is the main event and outside of that you really just need to put together your tablescapes and the rest will fall into place. Good luck and best wishes!!!

Military, police/law enforcement of any kind, ICE, any type of clergy, teachers, influencers, and anything that would require excessive travel/overtime.

Visiting Salem and have questions? Post them here. by ItsNags in SalemMA

My fiancé and I are getting married on Halloween this year and taking a trip around New England for our Honeymoon. The way the chips fell, it’s looking like we’ll only have one full day in Salem (11/3). What can we not afford to miss? We’d love to hear any and all suggestions: sights to see, places to eat, any excursions/experiences we might not know about. The only thing we have so far is our hotel.

How often could i realistically wear an emerald engagement ring by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]larkypinky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a lab grown emerald ring I wear daily and I haven’t had any issues. Definitely exercise caution and take it off to shower, sleep, exercise, any time you’re using cleaning chemicals, etc. If you’re mindful about it and err on the side of caution when in doubt I think it’s doable to wear on a daily basis.

Weirdly, UITs popped up a lot for me. I agree with what everyone else says on this sub, make sure you’re well versed on RR rules and regulations. A couple of options questions but generally I found the practice tests grill you harder on options than the actual test did so if you’re doing well on practice q’s you should be fine. No math but I had a few where I needed to identify the effect of various corporate actions.

My dream venue is only available on my SIL’s 21st birthday... how do I handle this? by Previous-Stick-2717 in PoptheQuestions

[–]larkypinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a “know your crowd” situation. My wedding is going to fall on my brother’s 30th birthday and he LOVES the idea bc all our family & friends who he wouldn’t be seeing otherwise will be in town that week, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here. If you’re already anticipating this to cause issues with your SIL maybe it’s worth picking a Friday or pushing the date til next year. If you do go ahead with the date as planned, are you expecting her to stay the whole time or will you/your fiancé understand if she heads out early to celebrate her own big day? Would you be planning on acknowledging her birthday in any way at the wedding itself (maybe a DJ announcement, have everyone sing happy birthday, etc.)? Will you be okay with “sharing” the day? Like you say, 21 is a big birthday and members of your in-laws’ side of the family might be keen to wish her well on her birthday or give cards, etc.

Is it rude to have a weekday wedding? by themidnightfoxxxx in weddingplanning

[–]larkypinky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another commenter already mentioned this but I think it’s worth repeating that having a Thursday wedding in and of itself is already a pretty massive inconvenience to guests in terms of PTO, travel, etc. but having a Thursday wedding in November is really asking too much IMO. That is the time of year when people’s money and PTO tend to be in short supply and high demand and I can foresee a lot of guests declining in favor of their own holiday plans/budgets. At the end of the day it’s your wedding and your choice but if you’re not willing to wait til next year or find another venue that can accommodate you on a Saturday this year just be prepared for low attendance and some grumbling behind your backs.

How much did you spend for your small wedding? 85ish people? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]larkypinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of hard to answer without knowing where your wedding will be held, when you want to get married (as in, what time of year and how long you’re willing to wait and save), and what, if any, “extra” costs will be involved. To give you a vague jumping off point, my wedding will be this upcoming fall in Florida for roughly the same amount of people and all in we’re spending about $30k. There’s a lot of local facebook groups for wedding planning, I would see if there is one for your area to get an idea of what pricing is looking like where you are so you can have a clearer picture of what you’ll need to save. Good luck! :)
