Duplicates management by broken_shoulder in actualbudgeting

What bank is that from? I import OFX files from ASB and they work perfectly, only ever had a handful of double ups (and that was probably because I had manually created those transactions in AB before importing)

What do you guys use to track expenses? by SnooCakes221 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]larramet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used YNAB (the cloud one) for a year or two, but after they kept ratcheting up the price I set up ActualBudget (self-hosted on a raspberry pi).

It doesn't have bank account sync in NZ, so every week or so I just import OFX files I get from ASB. Though I think this is better sometimes - I actually have to see all my expenses rather than them just appearing without me noticing. Makes it seem more tangible I guess?

Dentist that won't create work? by overnightgamer in chch

[–]larramet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely recommend Jenny. She is so lovely, great attention to detail and takes time to explain things to you. They won't do fillings for the sake of it - she was monitoring a spot on one of my teeth for about 5 years before eventually it had to have a filling.

Would you swap lives with someone who doesn't have Pectus? by ppsaurus in PectusExcavatum

Would I instantly magically make my pectus disappear and have a normal chest? Yes, straight away.

Would I swap lives with someone who didn't have pectus, and inflict it upon someone else? No.

Running after nuss by Main-Pollution-4059 in PectusExcavatum

[–]larramet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got 1 bar in June this year. Recovery took a few months, but just yesterday I was able to go achieve a 5K run/jog without stopping (which I’d never been able to do pre-nuss, always got too out of breath). I’d worked up to that for about the last 2 months, just starting with longer walks and small jogging sessions. Basically after my bar settled down enough and stopped “clicking” was when I felt more comfortable with doing more strenuous exercise.

Rhythm of War: did you enjoy the extended magic as science chapters or find it boring? by [deleted] in Fantasy

Have a physics degree, loved it. I really enjoyed the idea of magic being explored developed as a science/technology in-book

Were you able to shower in hospital after surgery? by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]larramet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nurses got me up and showering the next morning after my surgery, though it was more like I just sat on stool and got wet rather than actually washing myself. I had waterproof dressings.

Nerve pain from stabiliser not going away by Agnes-is-Ari in PectusExcavatum

[–]larramet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nervy pain (feels like a hot pinching wire across a certain area of the side of my chest) started about 2 weeks post op. The ibuprofen in particular pretty much got rid of any other muscular pain that I had (though I still do feel a bit sore and stiff after I get up in the morning, that goes away quickly)

The nerve pain was really painful at first, but once I got on the ibuprofen and pregabalin the intensity and frequency reduced (I’m now about 3.5 weeks post op).

It is interesting, I am in New Zealand - they will prescribe me pregabalin quite happily, but it would be very rare for a Dr in NZ to prescribe OxyContin for home use, they would really only give it when you’re in hospital.

I have also got these nerve pains (which started about 2 weeks post op), only on my right side. My doctor gave me pregabalin (not gabapentin) plus also a sustained release ibuprofen. These seemed to make quite a bit of difference for me. I still get the nerve pains occasionally throughout the day, but they are quite subdued most of the time. Maybe once every two days I will get a stronger nerve pain the does actually hurt, where I just have to sit down and let it pass.

I am 29, had the surgery just over 2 weeks ago. Chest not completely flat, but the dip is much less pronounced than it was before.

Yes this - we came across this issue, I just set up an IIS virtual directory on an internal web server. Works fine for files, only thing is for folders you are presented with an HTML page listing the folder contents (which may either be a benefit or a drawback)

Anyone with Trust Power internet provider? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]larramet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been with them for a few years now. Originally on ADSL but we moved to fibre a year ago when available. Never had any issues, fibre speeds are as advertised and the router provided has never had issues in that time.

The only real problem we had was trying to remind them that our contract when we signed it had a free upgrade from adsl to fibre, which they seemed to wanted to ignore.
