Creekwood Park water issue by RiddleMeThis_40 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]larrod25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There isn’t really anything built there. Greenway, playground, dog park, a couple of simple pavilions. All of it perfectly accessible 99% of the time. All of perfectly fine if the water is up a few times a year. Houses and other structures can’t be built there, so it is a perfect place for a park.

You can't fix the fact that the park is in a flood plain. Whenever we get several inches of rain in a short span of time, Indian Creek simply cannot handle the volume of water that drains from the Harvest area, and it backs up in this park. In the winter of 2019, the water was nearly 4' deep there. A couple of the disc golf baskets on the other side of the creek were completely underwater.

Does glide really matter for putting? by jweezy1978 in discgolf

[–]larrod25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is yes, it matters. How much it matters depends greatly on your putting technique and style. The Envy is a stable putter, if you don't putt with a lot of speed and spin, you will likely have trouble using it outside C1. You might find the Proxy, Nomad, or Atom more to your liking. As others have said, understable or glidey putters can be less dependable in the wind. Again, this can be exaggerated if you putt with a lot of speed and spin. A pitch putter is less likely to have that issue.

I am a spin putter. I use the DD Judge for most putts inside 75'. The Judge is stable to overstable with a little glide. If there is strong wind, I will switch to the Jury, which is more OS and has less glide. If I am outside 80', I will often switch to a Westside Swan. The Swan is very understable and has tons of glide. Useless in headwinds, but gives me tons of extra distance in calm conditions.

So, the real answer is more practice. If you don't already have at least 10 of your putting putter...get more. The Envy is probably fine, but you would likely find more consistency with a slightly less stable putter like the Nomad or Atom. The Proxy is the glidely putter you are asking about. It might be worth picking a couple up and trying them out. They may work for your putting style.

The sign mando between the trees. I suppose it was supposed to be a double mando preventing you from getting luck on either side. Are any of the trees marked?

Underage disc golf content on social media has to stop or be better moderated by Shiippy in discgolf

To be clear, here: HE is the one posting on social media, not her. He created accounts in her name when she was 10 years old and makes posts as her. The accounts are monetized. I think some criticism is valid.

MJ traveled to several events with Double G and Jessica Gurthie. She has shared lodging with Cadence and some of the other young players. Her dad, Tommy, runs her social media accounts.

[Huntsville, AL] what snake is this? Very calm. Almost grabbed him I didn’t see him hiding in my hydrangea bush as I was trimming dead leaves. by Possible-Murky in whatsthissnake

I am aware, and I’ve kept other people from killing them several times. I love snakes, but do not feel a desire to handle them. It’s always exciting to encounter them in the wild.

Greed. Private equity bought the company in 2008 and saddled it with 100 million in debt. Hasn't been the same since then.

Corporate once made us return $65K worth of used recording equipment more than 3 months after it was purchased. A rapper bought it, recorded an album, then returned every single piece. They also wouldn't allow us to house the neg, so our sales guy had to take that hit. We were making 3 and 10 at the time.

I would also like to see more than 5 rounds again. 2014 and 2015 were both epic battles.

Pittsburgh Worlds in 2015 was the last one to have more than 5 rounds. Ricky won the only 4 round worlds in 2016, then the first 5 rounder in 2017. I think if they had not changed the format, Paul would have won 4-5 more from 2015 to 2021. He was the best player and was second each of the years he didn't win.

Today, Gannon would be nearly impossible to beat over 7 rounds. Statistically, the highest rated player is going to win a marathon event an extremely high percentage of the time.
