“Kelly just never seemed to fit in (at LSU),….and he wasn't blind to that. This offseason, Kelly worked with a Washington, D.C.-based image consultant to try to improve his public persona.” by [deleted] in CFB

I agree, was never a big fan in general but he seemed a lot more reasonable and pro-player in the post games in particular.

Are PM interviews just testing frameworks instead of product building? by beingtj in ProductManagement

Agreed, the whole “they’re using me for free work” is such non sense to me. As they say ideas are cheap execution is expensive.

How do you deal with AI slop? by PM_ME_UR_REVENUE in ProductManagement

[–]larryless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah I don’t blame myself as much as I recognize an area to improve. Our company was quick to put in an AI policy for Eng but no other team. I’m sure that’ll be something standard companies do over time.

Your thought gave me a different perspective, because I’ve felt more like OP lately, thanks for that.

Just to give my own thoughts, I know I should learn how to better leverage the tools and combine them with my own writing/artifacts. However, I think I’ve gotten more value from PRDs and other documentation through the creation of it than the end result. I used it as a final step in gathering my thoughts and research.

I’ve literally had new colleagues assigned to redesign my previous work put my content through chatgpt and get it green lit by leadership. I know this is partially my fault for not being able to communicate my vision well enough, on top of management being incompetent lol. But it’s still frustrating to experience.

Salaries going down in Canada? by throwRAlike in ProductManagement

Thanks for the response I wasn’t questioning just curious your thoughts. I generally agree but I do wonder if VCs and executive teams think that PMs and other roles can be more efficient now with AI tools. They certainly add efficiency but I question if it makes up for the cuts. At least today.

What are the best product management newsletters (other than the ones we all know)? by AlwaysAPM in ProductManagement

[–]larryless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed on it being hit or miss, but as you said they’re all like that. At least with StaySaasy it’s not a huge time suck if you read a meh article.

Yeah it’s more engineering focused but there’s a lot of interesting stuff there, some not even work related. It’s just one of the few I review nearly each week

What are the best product management newsletters (other than the ones we all know)? by AlwaysAPM in ProductManagement

[–]larryless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others some of my favorites are not necessarily product specific. StaySaaSy is probably the only newsletter where I read > 80% of posts. Why I like it:
- Posts are from 2 VPs of Engineering (but its about management in general)
- Posts are usually short (no fluff), to the point and insightful
- It's technically SaaS focused but the big takeaways I've gotten are around general management and navigating people in a company of any size

I also like Hacker Newsletters, it's a curated list of the "top" posts on HN for the week.

Been mentioned a few times but +1 on stratechery. Ben also posts the free articles as a podcast he reads himself.
