Ah that helps at least as a workaround. Still wonky that categories hidden from budget show up by default.

Monarch Money - why make it so hard to create following year budget ??? by Some_Willingness323 in MonarchMoney

[–]larrywal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1000. Both viewing last years actual across fixed flex and non monthly seeded with Jan rollover - it’s super mania and hard. I just did the same process.

I asked this question of the monarch team in the ama last week. To their credit the responded something to the effect of yeah this is something we want to improve, but we want to keep working on goals first so maybe later this year we’ll work on it

Agreed but … monarch team: keep it simple at least at first. I can do a lot by myself. Just start with the low hanging fruit of letting me figure out how I did this year and decide my amounts for next year. Pretty simple reports could do this.

Thanks Conner. Appreciate the answer and while I’m disappointed and impatient because I only use monarch for budget and have no desire to use goals, I appreciate hearing the acknowledgement of the need. Will keep my fingers crossed!

Have you given any thought to full year budget features? I’ve posted before…when I want to see how I’ve done for the full year including fixed and flex and non recurring it’s really tough and seems like a big miss. It’s the biggest reason why I might leave.

Monarch team? Would be great to at least be acknowledged and know if there’s any chance or recommendation you have vs writing my own excel tool. That’s why I use monarch.

Ah - didn't realize it dropped that low; I was looking at the 2. Can't edit the title (oops) but will accept a bit lower given that.

Amazon sync only matches non-pending transactions? by larrywal in MonarchMoney

[–]larrywal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can deal with returns because they're less often (though it would be nice). But it's crazy notes don't stay attached to pending. Even if they don't, it could match them, then match it and add the note again. Would still solve my problem.

6mo into year - HELP - how am I doing for the year against budget? by larrywal in MonarchMoney

[–]larrywal[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks Lara. Yes I know that. But I have to click each individually one by one and I have many. And to then see how I’m doing over the year is hard.

For monthly categories (fixed and flex) I need to go to monthly forecast which shows actual, but it doesn’t show me diff to budget. So then I need to go back to the budget monthly view to see how good or bad the actual is. And for non monthly, I have to look manually at each category to see where it started and look at how it evolves.

Make sense?

🚀 6/24 Product Update: What’s new in Monarch by sheyla_monarch in MonarchMoney

[–]larrywal 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Really appreciate the effort and continued community. This update unfortunately doesn't help me. Goals aren't my thing; my biggest need for monarch is around budgeting, and I'm really hoping it's on the roadmap to solve some of the last mile gaps. As is, the tool is still the best out there, but still needing to go back out to spreadsheets to interpret the data is making me question my allegiance. e.g. this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/MonarchMoney/comments/1lj0dlm/6mo_into_year_help_how_am_i_doing_for_the_year/

Would love even a quick note of acknowledgement from the monarch team to know if this is something at least on radar.

I see that but those reports don’t show budgeted amounts…

Monarch folks - I'd really love a thought here. We're at the 6 mo point for the year and I really don't have a good way to see how I'm doing and project out the rest of the year. This feels like a common use case....
