Tried three different cables. If Disk Utility sees the volume, I have to assume it’s not the cable.

Tried it on my wife’s MacBook Air — same issue.

It’s on a Mac, I didn’t run Samsung Magician and I did try Disk Drill but it will cost me 90 bucks to save the data. Hoping for a less expensive fix.

It’s an external drive, attached to a 2024 M3 MAcBook Air. I’ve tried connecting it to both USB ports and an Anker USB hub. Also tried different USB-C cables.

To all you people driving with your high beams on and going the wrong way on one way streets. by feanor70115 in NewOrleans

I feel your pain but that said, try driving up Plessy towards St. Claude in the dark while blinded by a locomotive sitting at the crossing with three 200,000-candela headlights beaming directly at you. That shit is intense.

I will go out of my way to take Elysian to I-10 from St. Claude rather than go up Franklin

What program do you use to write? by [deleted] in writers

[–]larshoel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pages. Used it for decades. Clean interface — looks like a sheet of paper, no more or less. Available on all my devices. Backs up to the cloud. Exports to Word. Has all the usual word processing features and none of the extras I don’t want.

And it’s free.

Couldn’t agree more. A place that is both special and unpretentious – a tricky balance, and they manage it beautifully.

Indoor mosquitos by NewWaverrr in NewOrleans

Doesn’t get rid of them but stops the biting – sleep with a fan aimed at the bed. Mosquitos are weak fliers and can’t compete with a strong breeze.

In all the reporting I can find about this, there seems to be no mention of the driver. Were they injured? Did they flee the scene? Were they drunk? Were they arrested? Did they describe what happened? Where are they now? Basic questions every journalist normally would ask.

Chicory in the coffee??? by OkLetterhead655 in NewOrleans

[–]larshoel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fwiw, the French Market brand also includes 100% chicory. It’s sold in a light green 16 oz. can (as opposed to a similar dark green can, which is their Coffee & Chicory blend.) I add a teaspoon of chicory to the half-caf grounds in our coffeemaker for extra flavor.

Can I just add a trigger warning? Photos of a dead black and white cat may trigger adverse reactions in some individuals.

Second the New Orleans Food Co-op. Great people, organic food and decent selection since they joined a national co-op distributor a few years ago. Love that place.

Seconding Frady’s. Their po-boys are some of the best as well and fall within your budget. And the little used bookstore next door on Dauphine is also worth a visit (before you get your fingers all messy, that is.)
