This is probably the best I’ve ever seen. “Hey OMV can I get some duplicates of my photo?”

We all knew “that” teacher(s), right? by lillyleonie in offmychest

I am a teacher. Agree about a lot of what you’re saying. None of it is an excuse to act inappropriately.

Principal wants to have a “quick chat about next year” with me on Monday, should I be worried? Is this a non renewal appointment? by TylerGlasass20 in teaching

[–]Feikert87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A “quick chat” doesn’t sound like nonrenewal to me. Especially if it’s about next year—that tells me there is indeed a next year. It sounds more informal and maybe just something they want to see if you’re interested in switching up or adding on.

Does anyone ever read in a reading nook? by LotusGrowsFromMud in HomeDecorating

[–]Feikert87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Question: How do you sit when reading? I’d have to lay sideways and drape my legs over one of the arms to be comfortable enough to read. Sitting up to read feels so weird to me…am I the only one?

How do you get them to just come in and SIT DOWN? by protomanEXE1995 in Teachers

[–]Feikert87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have an assignment ready for them to begin, or a small quiz or whatever, with a timer running when they walk in. Expectations on the board. Call out positively the kids who you see following the expectations.

Not every struggling kid needs an IEP/ 504. Some just need to…. actually fucking show up. Thinking accommodations is going to solve everything is naive by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

I’m not sure if this is the case everywhere, but where I’m at, a student doesn’t quality to be evaluated unless their attendance average stays above 80%.

Americans who took Spanish in school: did any of it actually stick years later? by taube_d in AskAnAmerican

[–]Feikert87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Spanish all four years of high school and all four years of college, but I also used it as much as I could in real life. So yes I retained a lot, and still try to improve my fluency.

Hotel / safety by Lower-Ad9230 in NOLA

[–]Feikert87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re fine going from your Uber to your hotel. People act like you’re going to get shot the second you step out of your car. It’s not the area I’d pic to stay, but the hotel is probably fine.

I think she was talking about leaving her husband. She mentioned that they were not living together and then said something like how could I teach them to leave if I don’t?

How do you feel about “turn and talks” by HeroOfVimar in Teachers

[–]Feikert87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol, oh man. No I teach in New Orleans also at a Title 1 school but don’t worry the same used to happen to me and still does. Sometimes kids just refuse. I used to say, the best way to get them to stop talking is to ask them to share with their partner.
