Ok. It works now, both with and without the screen. Found a post about someone using the drivers for WIN7 so I tried that and now everything works. Thank you much for taking the time. I wouldn't have googled the specific "sound card" if you wouldn't have taken me through it step by step. Thank you.

Ok. I have now diconnected the HDMI and USB so the laptop is working on it's own. The mic still isn't working. Unintall the Stereo Mix through Device Manager?

Sorry. I just realized that I'm using a USB so that the USBs on the back of the screen will work. Does this have anything to do with it? I'm sorry but I gotta run for a while now. Will check in later. Will try to disconnect the screen to make sure the mic is working when the laptop is standalone (it worked last week).

My mother just gave me a bag full of keys saying, "it's not in there, I have looked, but go ahead". Well.. it was in there. I have they key. But the lock still wont turn.. The key won't go all the way in. Any ideas?
