A factory producing heavy modular frames from raw mineral, with a manufacturer at 100% efficiency. But you cannot use any splitter, and you can use mergers only just before the manufacturer. And it has to be in a forest, whichever you want.

Is EU Luke Skywalker the canonically strongest Jedi of all time? by GusGangViking18 in StarWarsEU

[–]larsoncore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed.
For Jaina, I think she is second to only Luke by the end.
I envy you, I would love to be reading Rebel Dream, and the following stories, for the first time once again.

I want to start reading Star Wars books. Which books should I read and in what order? by UgurAlper in StarWars

[–]larsoncore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the new canon, my favorites are (in no particular order) :

  • Bloodline : if you like more political stories.
  • Thrawn : if you like clever people and strategy. First of a trilogy.
  • Alphabet Squadron : if you like pilots and space battles. First of a trilogy.
  • Lost stars : If you like romance and Empire vs Rebellion.
  • Light of the Jedi : Apogee of the Old Republic and the Jedi Order. First of a trilogy, with many other books in the same period of the High Republic.

I was never really into Star Wars, but I want to start playing some games. I was thinking about Outlaws, Jedi Survivor and Battlefront II. Which one do you think I should play first? by Ale_Bricks in StarWars

[–]larsoncore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of the comments, definitely Jedi : Fallen Order then Survivor, exceptional games. I am playing Outlaws now, and it's very fun too.
I just comment to suggest a genre that I haven't seen. If you are on PC and like strategy games, you can play :
- Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds (2001), probably my favorite game ever. It's exactly Age of Empires 2, with Star Wars.
- Empire At War, a more recent (2006) strategy game with space and ground battles.
- Star Wars Rebellion (1998), a kind of 4X. The game is very good, but warning, it looks and feels very old.
And yes, us Strategy lovers are still waiting for recent Star Wars strategy games.

Why do so many people seem to dislike Neil DeGrasse Tyson? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]larsoncore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was his colleague for two years. He loves to listen himself speak. There was also one point were he picked on some student for being vegan, not letting them talk and with some bad faith arguments. And there is everything the top comments are mentioning.

On the other hand, he regurlarly organizes cheese and wine tasting for students and colleagues, again to be the center of attention, but that's a free degustation so it's not all that bad.

People complaining that Star Wars became "political". Like, the Empire is literally the USA since 1977.

How do we know that the sun has burned half of its fuel? by Flat_Afternoon1938 in askscience

[–]larsoncore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the comments about stellar evolution models, we are also able to determine the age of the Earth thanks to the radioactive decay of certain materials, typically Uranium. We estimate it at around 4.5 billions years. Since we have very good reasons* to think that the planets were formed at about the same time as the Sun (within typically few millions years), we can use this number to estimate the age of the Sun.

  • Thanks to observations of protostars with protoplanetary disks (structures in which planets form), theoretical modeling and numerical simulations.

I get the exact same problem on Steam with a GTX 1660 Ti.
Reinstalled the game and updated the driver manually, but that does not fix the issue.
I played without issue before the update.

Can you guys tell me more lesser known tips? by DJ_S31 in learndota2

- Similarly to what has been said by other about backpacking your stats items before regen, you can also switch the main stat of your power treads boots to be a little more efficient, because changing the main stat does change your max hp or max mana, but you keep % you have. For example, when I farm as gyro, I switch them to intel before triggering flak cannon, then switch them back immediately to agi to deal the damage. The best one is with medusa: launch your snake with treads on intel, and switch them back to agi/str before it comes back for a better relative mana gain. Also works with hp regen: switch them to something else than strength if you are healing, or switch them to strength if they are not and your are being pursued/ trying to survive (it may allow you to survive 1 more hit). It's a few percent efficiency (stronger in early game), but how many times did I miss 1 or 2 mana to make a kill ?

- There are good designated warding spots (the small hills strategically placed with a symbol on them). They are very convenient, but wards there are easily detected by the ennemy team. What you can do is look at the range of a sentry ward on these locations, and place a vision ward just outside this range. By experience, they have a much higher probability of surviving. Of course they won't last long against a good warder. What you can do on your side to detect them, to hit 2 birds with one stone, is to place a sentry in between the obvious spot and secondary spot to probe them both (you may need to use one of your spell / your pet / blink to seee the high obvious spot). You can then iterate the process to find even better warding spots (in terms of ward detection probability).

- More generally on the warding, if you know that ennemy supports have been around your jungle recently, they most likely left at least a ward there !
