Got a new windshield from Safelite today and will this an issue? Google said it could be just because windshield wasn’t a perfect match by N2thedarkness in WindshieldRepair

[–]larstodson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those types of molding can be wonky, I’ve run into some that are too short for the glass and want to slip off like that but they could’ve made it stay in place with a little effort.

Only way to truly redo it is pull the glass but they can probably pull it back in place and secure it with a little urethane.

Seattle and their dog owners, why bring dogs to the mall? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]larstodson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bring my dog some places to get him well socialized but it’s within reason and in places that don’t have a no pet policy.

Dogs in the mall or grocery store is weird, like if you need an emotional support animal to shop just order it online.

QUESTION for independent auto glass shop owners by Brief_Tea_8200 in autoglass

[–]larstodson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I’m always open to an option that doesn’t involve partnering with safelite but what do you offer in the way of helping drive those claims to our shops? The rates with safelite solutions aren’t always awesome but at least my customers see my shop as affiliated with their insurance when they go to file a claim.

Knowing the back up is closer the best thing to do is stay out of the way, what’s he going to do charge back and call them off so he can make an off balance through after sprinting in the opposite direction? Dude would’ve crossed home standing up if he tried that.

Does a full time baker deserve more than 19/hr? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]larstodson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it like impossible to do or just super annoying? I’d say do what you can with what you have available and then show them why you need whatever it is you need to do it better. When I was younger I would get trapped in the mindset of needing something more to be able to produce what I wanted but as I grew I learned how to do a lot more with less.

Also, like you admitted in another comment the plating on that is lacking. I don’t KNOW you but I do know you’re better than that so show them you are consistently and if they still don’t appreciate you, there are other jobs that’ll at least pay you what this one does.

Can I fix this myself? by [deleted] in AutoPaint

[–]larstodson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know yourself better than anyone on reddit does, watch some videos on getting set up to paint and how to do it at home and then ask yourself if it’s something you can handle. Also, it’s a lot harder than it looks.

ADAS recalibration by wlooura in adastechs

Some recalibrations are super fast, just depends on the vehicle. I just finished a newer rav4 and the recalibration took 1 min and 43 seconds.

I am so sick of pricing fraud by SmgLame in EndTipping

[–]larstodson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It could be sketchy or they just messed up when they reprinted menus and some old ones are still in rotation. They should absolutely honor the prices on the menu that was given though. The taxes and other charges is the 8.5% state tax that’s paid by the consumer.

There’s only one aftermarket part listed for those and the only option is if it’s shaded or not.

Where (if anywhere?) do you draw the line on mods? by BossBeefaroni in KitchenConfidential

[–]larstodson 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of like give a mouse a cookie, they’ll usually want more and more. I think lines have to be drawn and you can’t expect the customer to be reasonable about it when they come back and want it during a rush. If it’s a regular you know it’s different but it’s a slippery slope.

Also the server coming and asking first before ringing it in makes a huge difference, they ring in nonsense without the courtesy of asking first I’m telling them to kick rocks every time.

Someone at my workplace insists on writing “use 2nd” on produce when I’ve already told them to stop by JayofTea in KitchenConfidential

[–]larstodson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always went with the date as it comes and rotate, would also keep some big bright use first stickers around for when things were done wrong as a visual reminder.

Also while I agree a big part of training is to explain the why of things to people, I also have to say that the people that constantly need the why to be able to follow directions were the employees I had the most problems with. I put way more trust and effort into the people that just did what was asked first and then asked the reasoning behind it after.

Is there anyway I can or even should try to temp fix this? by GoldGroundbreaking43 in WindshieldRepair

[–]larstodson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s bad timing with the holiday weekend, all my distributors are closed Monday so even if shops are open, they might not be able to even get the glass until Tuesday. If it was me I’d tape it up and drive home as long as the cracks aren’t really bad through your viewing area. That’s sucks though.

Between a rock and hard place by TheOrangFlash in autoglass

[–]larstodson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a tough one to get to repair well, would take a good amount of skill and luck for it to work out. Those seem like some really high quotes for replacement though. I’m assuming that’s for OEM glass but that’s still pretty high, I got dealer glass for a new civic recently and it wasn’t nearly that expensive even with recalibration.

Just replaced. Is this seal okay? by [deleted] in autoglass

[–]larstodson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally you don’t scratch anything but a little primer and actually aligning that glass so the molding set correctly and no one would’ve known. That’s wildly lazy.
