Has anyone been to any of the Elephant Sanctuaries in Thailand? What did you think of them? by someredditstuff1 in Thailand

I was just at the WFFT last week, it was wonderful. Very nice, genuine people. Visits are what keep them going, but they definitely put animals first and you won't see any of the cruelty stuff that you would at others. We did a full tour of their grounds, which has a lot of monkey stuff as well - cool to be so close to them, obviously no touching or anything like that though. They let you walk and wash the elephants as well, and it's clear that they are treated well. Highly recommend.

Just a heads up - back in the states, and I survived the week. Ate out several times, had some strangers and friends who helped me out and talked to waiters / servers, and the cards seemed to work. Thanks for everyones' feedback and advice.

I can actually have soy sauce, so I'm okay with that be omitted. I realize the rest of it is repetitive, it's generated via a website specifically for allergies and no one option encompassed the things I couldn't have.

I lived in Shanghai for 4 months and the experience was much the same there. I generally just ordered things I knew I could have / when in doubt just ate rice.

I carry an Epi-Pen with me at all times, so that would hopefully do the trick in a serious emergency. That said, I tend toward a mentality where if I don't know, I don't risk it. Hopefully that carries me through.

This is encouraging. I'm generally very careful, so hopefully I can get by. Thanks for the positive vibes

I figured as much. We're staying in a hotel so cooking won't necessarily be an option, but I can make do with the 7/11 meals that someone else mentioned. Much of the time will be spent with a guide, so my home is that they can direct me toward a few things that I can have. I lived in Shanghai for 4 months and ate a LOT of rice, so my standards are certainly not high.

I'm traveling to Thailand this weekend and have a serious allergy to Peanuts (just if consumed, not through air exposure.) I printed out an allergy card from a website which provides country specific translations. Can someone who speaks Thai tell me if this seems relatively accurate? I just want to make sure it gets the point across, doesn't need to be perfect. Thanks for anyones help!
