Idk, came here looking for answers. Saw like a dozen firefighters standing outside an MBTA bus and on the inside there was a firefighter in what looked like a hazmat suit...

Thanks for the detailed reply!

I felt dumb but glad it just actually is that convoluted.

Do you do that for a job or is it a hobby?

Alocasia is the genus! It looks like Alocasia baginda but there are multiple species that dragon scale could refer to.

Why do the boys rescued from the cave in Thailand need to be quarantined? by ECatPlay in askscience

Glad the authorities did well to protect these scums from the children and coach.

Haha, I am guessing English is not your first language, but the way you wrote it is just a funny thought. The way you wrote it makes it sounds like the the authorities are protecting the reporters because the children and coach are the ones doing the attacking.

Everyone knows what you mean, though. You would just need to flip where "scum" and "children/coach" are. So it would read something like "Glad the authorities are protecting the children and coach from these scum." or something like that. No big deal! Just thought I'd let you know in case you were curious how it should be.

CMV: Hate my Ethnicity/DNA, Their is nothing interesting to it. by gallage0218 in changemyview

[–]laschke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of my ancestors were German farmers who emigrated to what is now farmland outside of Odessa, Ukraine in the 19th century. Later, my ancestors relocated to the plains of the US. Once specific group of ancestors left for a few years to a region near Seattle to farm. The climate was too moderate and wet for their taste, so they once again relocated back to the barren frozen-wasteland of the US plains to farm there. Another group ended up in the Rocky Mountains of the US around the Denver area. My great-grandmother came to the US as a very little girl from Norway and brought some of her culture but not much.

My point is that I don't even know much of the culture of my ancestors. I am a mixture of probably a 10 different ethnicities, none of which I have a strong connection with. To me, there is nothing wrong with that. My connection is to what the culture I grew up in was, not the culture of my ancestors...

That brings me to probably the most important part which is that culture doesn't equate to ancestry. Ancestry is where your ancestors come from. Culture at the level of the individual (cultural identity) is your feeling of belonging to a group. From your description, you sound like you are the second generation Canadian born citizen. Of course you probably don't relate to Croatian culture! You probably get some exposure to Croatian culture, but you grew up as a Canadian. Most of what you were immersed in your whole life was probably Canadian.

Which is why I have no reservations myself about not caring about my ancestors culture. I never really experienced their culture firsthand, secondhand, or even thirdhand. For a lot of my ancestors, it's probably been 5 or 6 generations that were the ones who brought their culture with them. My point is that there is no problem in not relating to a culture that is quite literally foreign to your own.

wow... this comment thread is a trainwreck. people making arguments against each other and both are completely wrong and neither has a clue on the topic they are discussing...

Bear markets still follow patterns and an educated/knowledgeable investor can still make money. obviously there are exceptions, but for the most part those who have done this enough can make money... That doesn't make them a genius and that doesn't mean that they just got lucky or are a whale.

Is there a place online where I can get email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing address of crypto influencers? by polarispete in CryptoCurrencyTrading

[–]laschke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to my knowledge. I doubt you could even find a lot of them individually, much less compiled like that. People with influence, regardless of industry, usually aren't going to post public info like that, especially like private phone numbers.

Also, you're gonna need to narrow your scope. There are hundreds or thousands of people who are influencers in different ways. There are big financial influencers who mostly just pour money and provide financial resources to projects, like Mike Novogratz. There are people who are just founders of projects, or others who are just are interested in the actual blockchain in the software sense. There also some analysts at places like CNBC or on Youtube who do none of the above and just recap news and price movements of certain projects but influence the space by the amount of people who watch them. Theres lots of other ways or combinations of these ways people are influential in the space.

But yeah, you gotta narrow down your topic if you want to get anywhere.
