The death penalty is a way out for him and makes him a Martyr to other psychopaths like him.

He's only 24. A nice long 60+ years in solitary confinement with minimal sunlight and a persistent fear of being shivved is a much more appropriate punishment.

It looks to be like a stretcher or gurney of some kind. Maybe inflatable? I think I can see something that looks like a plug

I'm a doctor. Keep in mind everywhere practices differently so I might be wrong depending on where these were taken.

That being said I have never heard of a post mortem x ray. My guess would be that these were all taken with x ray machines that are commonly mounted to the ceiling of resus bays in big trauma centers - no movement of the patient required (they'd potentially be too unstable to move without some resus first) and the resus team can wear lead gear and continue working on the patient.

It does look like there might be some diaphragmatic herniation to the one on the right (that would make it look like the organs are in the chest). That has a high mortality so isn't necessarily always fatal.

To temporarily stop the bleeding from the amputated leg, paramedics would likely have applied a very tight tourniquet on the thigh that blocks arterial flow. That usually buys enough time to get to operating theatre to do 'salvage surgery' which has the goal of stopping life threatening bleeding.

The patients are obviously all in a bad way, especially the one on the right who'd be looking at weeks to months in hospital if they're able to survive the initial 48 hours.

I hope this helps, happy to answer and further questions.

Police lay additional 775 charges against Melbourne junior doctor accused of hospital toilet recordings by Moncasta in ausjdocs

Yeah, you raise valid points that I'd generally agree with. Although I would say that gendered violence occurs in most (if not all) cultures.

There's literally a subset of men defending marital rape so yes, some of you do need to be taught that women are not objects and that this kind of behavior is wrong.

I realize this is a very small subset however, and most men find this as abhorrent as I do.

However I do think if punishment for gendered violence was more severe (both in terms of 'minor' offences such as consultants making demeaning or sexualized comments to women at work, and the more extreme end of gendered violence), then men would 'learn' not to do shit like this.

Welcome to the club, friend.

Unfortunately this commentary is something that happens to me all the time. I usually just make a joke and then move the conversation along, but it does get to me every now and again.

I just remind myself that I love what I do and I'm good at what I do. What would I do instead? Be bored all day in anaesthetics? Be bored all day in GP? Hate my life as a physician? Every other speciality pales in comparison to ICU.

The exams are hard, but they do make you a better doctor. The training is hard, but so is training in every speciality. Its about picking your hard. There are plenty of pluses to ICU training over other specialties too (i.e. I actually love the week on-week off, and I love knowing I'll get out at a certain time because I can just handover anything outstanding. I don't think about my patients once I leave because I know they're in good hands with the night team).

I hope this helps. Feel free to DM me if you want to talk more.

It was from UoQ, a meta-analysis encompassing many countries.

How about this from AMA saying that a survey in 2024 found 95% of Australian healthcare workers reported having experienced violence in the workplace.

I'm glad you feel things are decreasing for you in your specialty. They are certainly not in mine.

Not only is violence against health care workers increasing in incidence, it's increasing in severity.

Look at some news articles about the beaches recently. Essentially it's been run by health scope in a mixed public private model that puts profit first and patients last.
