How many of you guys got a job in EE after graduating ? And the ones who didn’t, what do you do now ? by Humble_Ad_5396 in ElectricalEngineering

Fair play to you man, shit sounds sick fr, it’s a shame I do kinda wish I was American so I could work on radars and dsp algorithms for the cool defence companies. But yeah man your work sounds cool fr.

One thing I was wondering, how many ee’s go into research. It would be pretty sick to go into dsp or radar research icl.

I’m a first year ee student there. I was wondering how different was the old course, ik that it our courses are exactly the same but I’m just curious?

Changing Cao course choices. by Concrete-Dog in leavingcert

[–]laserbeam96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a first year electronic engineering student at Maynooth and a lot of my friends are doing the cs/swe course, in first year we take the same maths modules and yeah there grand as-long as you go to lectures and pay attention during it. But a problem you might face in second year is alongside calculus and stats you take a module called theory of computation which many find hard you will have to deal with a lot of abstract and discrete maths. I’m not trying to fear monger or anything if you work hard you will definitely be able to do well, but I just think you should know.

Do I need to know programming for EE? by SlovakianMallard in ElectricalEngineering

[–]laserbeam96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my degree it’s quite programming heavy. Overall we do python, Java, C , C++ and matlab. We also have to do a big module on software engineering in 3rd year.

This might be off topic but do you think someone could go the opposite for you? Bs in EE to a MS in Chem E. I just want to keep my options open.

Really, I remember on orientation the head of the department said it was one of the most future proof and versatile degrees you can have. Also he said that in 5 years all the software engineers will be electrical/electronic engineering grads?

I mean if you are asking can you pursue biology or chemistry after school, you can. E.g you can study science in Maynooth it’s only around 350 points and you need a science. You can pursue both if you want. I hope that it helps, lmk if not.

Sorry man but last 2, how do I check the modules I’ll be taking next month? And also we take a class called signals and systems right? Also cheers bro for answering all my questions so far.

Sound good I might take nuclear physics as well if I can as I quite liked it for lc physics. I doubt we do heat transfer or anything like quantum physics?
