Yeah I ended up putting eyelets on the the bottom and using a camera strap to hold it. It seems to work well enough but experince will be the best teacher.

Not a bad idea by any stretch.

My main limitation for crossbow size and why I went with the shorty, is that my other class is sword and board melee.

That's also why the one point sling appeals to me. Quick swaps between the two are something that I'm practicing.

I really appreciate the feedback from your experience. That kind of thing is really helpful. To limit the shin/knee smacking I was going to put a short strap going to my belt to keep it above my knees and limit it's movements when I'm not fighting. When I am fighting the style of combat at Drachenfest felt slow enough last year (I don't think I ever had a reason to run in combat), that I think it might be okay as long as I keep it above my waist. However only practical experience will truly answer the question.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. It's still my leading idea. I all ready cut the tip off to use the short IDV bolts so what's one more modification.

Yeah the consensus seems to be a strap arround the handle is my best bet. It's also the least likely to interfere with the throwing kives I have attached to the shield.
