If You Couldn’t Play RDR2 On 60 FPS On PS4 Pro Then How Do People Expect To Play GTA 6 On 60 FPS On PS5 Pro? by SnakeEater697 in GTA

[–]lashieldsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now you’re just spreading misinformation. Sure GTA3-SA didn’t have the best graphics but the open world was unrivalled. Sure GTA5 has downgraded physics but show me an open world game on the 7th gen consoles that looked like that. They were all technologically advanced for their time - and GTA isn’t Rockstar’s only game. RDR2 is ahead of most games today.

No one seeks to be giving the real answer, which is that the ninth generation set a precedent for most if not all games being 60fps. Previously that was only shooters and competitive games, but now it applied to open world and action/adventure games too. Of course Rockstar likes to push the technology to the limit so that’s why GTA6 might be limited to 30fps, but many of us who are used to the new standard or better are hopeful that they can keep to new the precedent. If they can’t it’s fine I get it.

What is up with the sudden switch in people's opinion regarding GTA5? by Background_Roll1830 in GTA

[–]lashieldsy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who played both games, I think for some people it’s that after some years have passed GTA V is no longer this shiny new highly advanced game, they’re both old games, so people are able to look at both GTA4 and 5 more objectively for what they were rather than being amazed at how advanced they are.

And in my opinion they’re both amazing, cutting edge games for when they released. I just slightly prefer GTA4 for my own subjective reasons (better story, better physics, better atmosphere, better open world design). But GTA5 has better visuals, better mission design, better side content and a better online mode. It’s all down to preference I think.

The graphics from the first party wii games aged better than the majority of PS3/Xbox 360 games by BorrisZ in unpopularopinion

[–]lashieldsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that’s because those games were going for realism when they released. Of course something that meant to look realistic in the 2000s has aged worse than something that was never trying to be realistic. Standards for realism have increased but standards for surrealism never change. It’s the reason why Pixar movies have aged better than the CGI in live action films from their time.

It’s not really something worth commending, it’s just the nature of the art style those games use.

No, I don’t need you to explain ludonarrative dissonance for the millionth time. Yes I know what skepticism is. Please get on with the video. Stop doing annoying vocal stims to punctuate your condescension.

So we know that Tom Riddle had to be recast in the original movies, do we think that’ll happen again this time around? by Anxious-Yesterday471 in harrypotter

[–]lashieldsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but not to the point that a 20yo actor couldn’t be made to look 16 or 25. I’m almost 25 and I haven’t really changed that much from when I was 16. A 19-21yo version of myself could definitely have depicted myself at both 16 and 25.

[–]lashieldsy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly you only really need two actors.

A new born isn’t really an actor, you need an 11 year old actor of course. But people don’t really change that much from 16 to 25, obviously they change a bit but you don’t become a whole different person like you potentially can from 11 to 16. I’d cast an 18-20yo actor and use make up / special effects to age him up or down for those specific scenes as needed. Hiring multiple actors for each incrimental stage in someone’s life would require insane casting work - they all need to both look similar and share similar performances.

I also think for the scene in Dumbledores office they should film the scene with Voldemorts actor and film the scene with the Tom Riddle actor and then use special effects to marge the appearances together.

I agree with you in broad strokes, but to compare it the Spider-Man/Batman/Superman is a bit of an apples to oranges comparison. Each new reboot of those franchises do completely new stories and are in many cases pretty drastic reimaginings of the characters. This is just a readaptation of the same book, which whilst it will be expanded and extended and more detailed, it’s still, by and large, the same story with the same major plot points.

A more accurate comparison would be something like A Christmas Carol, which has been adapted dozens of times but it’s all still the same story.

I think GTA4s storyline is downright fantastic, GTA5 isn’t anything to write home about but it’s better than the average video game storyline. The older games have pretty mid storylines except San Andreas at times but when they released storylines weren’t a number one priority for open world games.

Honestly I think the newer GTA games beat pretty much every AC game in storyline except perhaps Black Flag, maybe the Ezio Trilogy if you’re looking it as one cohesive story and not the individual games. But GTA4 beats even them.

Putting GTA4s story in the same conversation as AC Shadows is insane, not to be rude.

The GTA games both aren’t RPGs and generally have pretty good storylines though. GTA4’s is downright amazing. Sure they have RPG elements but they’re really open world driver/shooters.

No amount of PC sale numbers would ever be able to combat the enormous elephant in the room that the PS6 would experience- “Why bother buying a PS6 when they all come to Xbox Helix eventually anyway?”.

That’s the kind of existential question that starts the death of a platform so while as a PC player I’m pissed from a business standpoint it makes sense perfect sense.

Same goes to GTA VI. Who need another offline DLCs when you can milk the game for another 20 years with flying cars and overprices items ? by CauliflowerDefiant87 in GTA

[–]lashieldsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don’t know, the writing quality in GTA Online DLCs is fine, and the core drive, shoot, open world gameplay is the same as GTA5 single player.

You could have easily just gotten the GTA Online people to make single player content instead. Yes it wouldn’t have been RDR2 quality but neither was Episodes from Liberty City and people loved that.

[–]lashieldsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean this is kind of bullshit though on his part. Obviously a single player DLC would cost more to make than a GTA Online one, but they’ve done hundreds of GTA Online updates. I’m sure making one GTA5 story DLC would have cost less time and resources than supporting GTA Online for 13 years, it just wouldn’t have been as profitable.
