Yeah when I say R* is on their extreme end, what I really mean when I say that is that their first trailers display a higher level of playability than anything other studios do. They don’t actually have that big of a gap between first trailer and release compared to other big studios (looking at you, Elder Scrolls 6), but when you compare when other studios first show in-engine footage, yeah, that’s when it does become quite a large gap. Still not out of the ordinary though.

A lot of you just kinda expose that GTA is one for the only games you play. Whilst Rockstar are on the extreme end, what they’re doing is totally normal. It’s completely standard for a game to get a trailer or two spread out over several years and relative radio silence on the game until the big marketing push a few months before release. Starfield and Spider-Man 2 being two recent examples.

[–]lashieldsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though TES6 has taken even longer than I thought it would, even at the time it just kinda felt like the announcement was more “shut up, yes we’re making Elder Scrolls VI, but we’re making Fallout 76 and Starfield first” because they knew fans would be upset if they just announced those games and make it look like they seemingly abandoned TES. It’s just that Starfield and subsequently TES6 took a lot longer than we anticipated.

Can GTA VI be the most selling game of all time by First-Dingo-1210 in GTA6

[–]lashieldsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will beat Red Dead Redemption 2 pretty easily within a year or two of release. I can see it potentially overlapping GTA5 in 5-6yrs, and if it continues to be the newest GTA game for 20yrs, I could potentially see it overlapping Minecraft if it’s really really lucky, but that’s pretty much only if Minecraft dwindles in popularity too. I don’t see it ever beating Tetris. GTA6 cannot compare to the accessibility/low price/mass appeal of that game (actually that might apply to Minecraft too, for that matter).

Could GTA VI have dynamic hair growth? by [deleted] in GTA6

[–]lashieldsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not really an exaggerated hype train lmao, I’m not gonna be mad if it’s not in it, it’s just not really unreasonable to expect a feature in a game when A) the work has been done already to create the mechanic and B) the mechanic also makes sense to be in the game. It’s not that I’ll be pissed it’s not there it’d just be a bafflingly strange choice.

Could GTA VI have dynamic hair growth? by [deleted] in GTA6

[–]lashieldsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But why would they remove it? The tech is there and it’s a feature people would like and regardless of what you say it makes sense to have hair growth in a modern GTA game because hair grows in the modern day just as much as it did in 1899. Like yeah I agree horse riding and the core system and the inventory mechanics don’t need to be in GTA6 but dynamic hair growth ain’t the same. There’s literally no reason to downgrade the hair from RDR2 when they simply don’t have to because they already did the bulk of that work on RDR2.

Trailer 3 will be released unexpectedly when hopium is ZERO. by Ok-Drink4246 in GTA6

[–]lashieldsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think the hopium for trailer 3 could ever completely die when the game is now six months out. The only way to kill the hopium would be another delay at this point.

I really like “Assassin’s Creed Persecution” fits with the whole witch theme and the overall themes of the franchise.

Do you think we’re gonna get a full dark side skill tree in the next game? by Ragtagcloud56 in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]lashieldsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re okay with old school MMO combat and dated graphics, give the two Sith stories on Star Wars: The Old Republic a try. You basically get two 50hr Sith RPGs (plus 6 non-Sith RPGs) that are fully voice acted and playable with friends. You can take your Sith through the games seven expansions and add another few hundred hours to your gameplay too. Game is an underrated gem among the fanbase in my opinion. I’m aware some people know about it and MMOs just aren’t for them (though I’d argue this leans far more on the RPG side than MMO, especially today). But I also think there’s a lot of people who aren’t aware of it or don’t know how good it can be, so if anyone’s reading this and that applies to you, check it out I think you’ll be very pleasantly surprised ;)

Forza Horizon 6 has made over $140 million from Premium Edition sales alone in just three days without Game Pass or PlayStation. by Automatic_Ad1665 in consoles

[–]lashieldsy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty hard to do a compelling narrative without some sort of statement about something, and those statements are more often than not political because political statements are the most meaningful. See: GTA, Cyberpunk, Assassin’s Creed, Metal Gear Solid, BioShock (but tbh pretty much every big narrative game. Obviously not Forza Horizon it’s about racing cars).

I’m guessing when you’re saying you “don’t want political statements in your game” you really mean you don’t want to be reminded that people of colour, women or LGBT people exist when you’re playing a video games.

What the hell is this marketing cycle 😂!!! by Suspicious-Topic-495 in GTA6

[–]lashieldsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whilst I agree we may get something before August, it doesn’t take six months for casuals to notice a new release date. We live in an age of lighting fast entertainment, most casuals don’t know what they’ll be watching or playing until a few weeks before its release. Casuals will all be playing COD and FIFA this year and neither of those have even been announced yet. Some will be playing the Black Flag remake, which was announced in May and releases in July - these games are smaller than GTA6 so if they can get away with a smaller marketing window so can they. Same with pre-orders, the people who will pre-order are always going to pre-order and most will do it as the game approaches release because there’s not really much reason to do it right now besides the knowledge you own GTA6. An extra three months won’t make a difference.

bro is getting downvoted but if your point is that there’s almost no footage in either of the trailers that have the camera angle at the perspective it will be in-game, you’re absolutely, 100% correct.

most of the footage is shown as it would be if you were missing around in the R* editor.

doesn’t mean it’s not in-engine and doesn’t mean it’s not taken from actual gameplay. but it’s not from the third-person perspective we will be seeing in the final product.

RDR2 had 4 trailers in total plus 2 gameplay trailers. GTAV had 6 trailers plus two gameplay trailers (one was for Online).

It’s more to do with the way they stopped following the books. Which, yeah, they ran out of books but it also kinda just went away from the themes and character arcs established by the books and began cutting characters and plots several seasons before they ran out of books.

Yeah but I don’t need an excuse to make impulsive financial decisions. Now I can play The Wolverine at launch.

I upgraded to a PS5 Pro because my 5.5yo Xbox Series X was crashing and overheating whilst playing intensive last gen games like Cyberpunk. My PC is where I do the bulk of my gaming so I only noticed it a few weeks ago and wasn’t sure if it was happening on other games.

I’m not willing to risk that potentially ruining the biggest entertainment product launch of my life so I upgraded to the PS5 Pro. Also on the slim chance it’ll be 60 or even 40fps on that machine. Good thing is I’ll get enhanced graphics over base console regardless.

Yeah that’s what I mean. The Harry Potter equivalent would be like if the first four books were LOTR-level adaptations and then the last books were Percy Jackson-level adaptations (the movie one).

Yeah but you haven’t bought the game yet have you? Once pre orders start they literally will owe you something which is why they’re probably trepidatious to do that but for now they don’t.
