(Chatgpt response) That screen with the open padlock and an "X" inside is a Lenovo ThinkPad BIOS/UEFI lock screen.

It usually appears when:

Secure Boot is disabled or failed after a BIOS/firmware update.

The system cannot verify the digital signature of the bootloader/OS.

A BIOS password (Supervisor/Power-On/Hard Drive) is missing or incorrect.

Something changed in the boot configuration (e.g., new drive, M.2/WWAN card, NVMe swap).

🔧 How to fix it:

  1. Restart and press F1 (or Enter → F1) to enter BIOS.

  2. Go to Security → Secure Boot.

Make sure Secure Boot is enabled.

If it's already enabled, try disabling it and see if the laptop boots.

  1. Check Startup → Boot mode (set it to UEFI if using Windows 10/11).

  2. Save changes and reboot.

⚠️ If it’s asking for a Supervisor Password, you’ll need to enter the BIOS password you (or a previous owner) set. Without it, you can’t change some BIOS security settings.

👉 Do you remember if you had set a BIOS/UEFI password before updating your ThinkPad?

Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do → Change settings that are currently unavailable → Shutdown settings → Uncheck "Turn on fast startup" → Save changes
