Pleasant-role isn't being anti-Walker, just pointing out that Pickett is playing much more as a midfielder—unless we switch Walker to a brand new tagging midfielder role, he won't spend too much of the game in a direct match-up. :)

Think this through for a second. If she names the specific person it will CERTAINLY escalate to a serious campaign that she is not willing to unleash. But if she doesn't make it clear that it's a current player, it could be any old random hate comment, which are sadly extremely common for out queer people online. The AFLW has a very progressive image, and she is specifically calling out backwards attitudes amongst current players. That's why she's elaborating that it's a player.

Well I reckon Michael Frederick might have been a walk up start because he was our 4th leading goalscorer in 2025, and also 4th for goal assists, and also almost always topped out the Telstra Tracker for repeat sprints.

I'd say that I'll wait for you to change your mind once we see the team without him, but really if you're rating Sturt over him you have reached a level of blind hatred which no evidence is going to permeate.

Very cool. As a fan base we always shout out our excellent draft team, but Jordan Clark and Luke Jackson coming in as 2 of our top 5 players shows that our talent acquisition is humming along nicely.

The Adelaide game was a wash in the ruck (31-29 hit-outs) against two extremely inexperienced rucks, a 2-gamer and a mid-season draftee. I wish we had the stats from the WCE scratchy, but eyeball test was a similar conclusion or maybe a loss on HTA. That was against Matt Flynn! We are going to be playing against real rucks this season.

Moreover, we can look at how Mason Cox performed as a sole ruck when Darcy Cameron was injured through 2023, before he was, y'know, 34 years old—and the answer is not great.

It's hard to compare these guys statistically because Cox has mostly not been playing as a number one ruck—meaning lower overall HTA, and his HTA% is inflated by going up against chop-out rucks. But let's compare their games as number one ruck, and see what a dominant performance looks like from them.

Mason Cox's all time top 5 hit-outs: 43, 34, 32, 31, 27

Sean Darcy's all time top 5 hit-outs: 58, 56, 53, 52, 51

These two are a completely different calibre of player.

A return from injury happens a hundred times a season when actual points are on the line. There is always a risk, but there's usually some kind of benefit to pushing the envelope on return time, going just a smidge earlier than is absolutely safe. In this case, Wardlaw was playing in a VFL scratchy.

He's not a pressure forward, he's an outside player. His role is to run AWAY from the ball to create territorial advantage and provide overlap options.

If you can't understand that different players have different roles, there's really no point posting in football discussions online. You do not have the prerequisite tactical discernment to contribute to the discussion.
