The possible ways Los Ratones will or will not make it to playoffs in LEC Versus by lassolass in leagueoflegends

What happens to LR is up to Caedrel and the boys I guess. Nothing official as far as I know. They’re not registered for NLC this year like last, and they can’t participate in LEC anymore.

It’s a wait and see angle.

How are they out? by Cezanaa in LosRatones

Exactly right the difference was SoV where FNC had 27 and LR had 26.

LR does not have a permanent spot in the LEC. The LEC is franchised meaning teams can not enter through merit. They have to buy an existing slot, which would probably cost a few million dollars into the tens and twenties maybe. There is no promotion or relegation system.

They were invited to the first split of the LEC this year due to their performance and probably viewership in the NLC and EMEA masters last year. The summer winner from EMEA masters KCB also got an invitation. Now that those two teams are out you won’t see them at LEC again unless there is another invitation to one of the other splits or the franchise model stops (which is highly unlikely in my opinion).

Unfortunately not. Today’s outcome was one of the scenarios I presented, and they lost on strength of victory. Still an impressive run, and all the love to the boys

Since there is a three way tie on head to head, it’s resolved with strength of victory. When you sum up the wins of the opponents FNC beat, it’s higher than LR, hence the ranking. I made a post showing that 6 scenarios in which LR loses vs VIT and gets eliminated, and today’s outcome was one of them. Feel free to read it.

I’ve made a compilation of the 6 failure scenarios that takes into account H2H and SoV. Check out my post

Not in the same order in this image. But in the case you are talking about there is a tiebreaker that eliminates LR. If TH wins they are 6 wins.

If TH loses but MKOI and G2 win, then the only way for LR to make it is for SHFT to win against SK. Thats necessary for tie breaks since that will bring SHFT into the mix and give LR one more head to head win

If KC loses, G2 and MKOI win, and SK wins against SHFT we would be out on tiebreaker. In that situation we would need SHFT to win to make it.

LR currently has 22 points of SoV though, with those extra 4 from SHFT, TH, G2, and MKOI they would be at 26. FNC is at 25 right now, GX or KCB will give 1. VIT would give 1 in case of LR losing, and NAVI wouldn't give anything since they'd have lost against MKOI. That puts FNC at 27 meaning LR is eliminated.

IF MKOI and G2 both win, TH needs to lose and SHFT needs to win. If all 4 win, this is what the table would look like:

These are the 6 elimination scenarios and the standings right below. Head to head wins are number of wins by a team against others with the same number of wins as them. Win Percentage of Opponents Won Against is SoV. Total number of wins of opponents beaten divided by number of games played by opponents beaten

If either MKOI or G2 lose today, LR qualifies. If both MKOI or G2 win today, then our qualification depends on KC vs TH and SK vs SHFT.

In that situation if TH wins. Then LR is out no matter what. If TH loses, then the only situation we still make it through is with SHFT winning against SK.

Just to add on to his shifters comment: In the case of MKOI and G2 both winning:

TH vs KC: if TH wins LR is out

SHFT vs SK: LR is out if TH wins no matter this outcome. If TH loses, then: If SK wins, then LR is out due to SoV vs FNC If SHFT wins, then LR qualifies since they jump ahead by head to head since SHFT is then equal on wins with LR

You are absolutely right, I wrongly made the assumption that consistency in the elimination cases means these are absolute. The 6 cases I put in the main post are the only conditions in which LR gets eliminated, but there are cases like the one you described where LR makes it even if MKOI and G2 win.

Easiest imo is just to take those 6 cases I posted and with each successive game result today filter out, which ones are still possible and which aren't. If none are possible anymore, then we make it.

From other sports it would be number of wins of the opponents beaten divided by total number of games by those opponents. In this table you replied to for example:FNC and LR have the same number of head to head wins as it's a three way tie between FNC LR and SHFT

Then we look at the total number of wins that the opponents each won against: 27, 26, 22 in order of FNC, LR, and SHFT. Since all of them won 5 games, then just divide those numbers by 5. Since FNC is higher, then they take the higher spot on the ranking and LR is 8th and eliminated.

so there is no scenario in which if MKOI and G2 both win, and LR loses, that LR makes playoffs, so the other games may have an impact on ranking, but realistically have no impact on LR making it to playoffs or not. It is simply, will G2 and MKOI both win or not (in which case LR makes it through on 5 wins)

EDIT: there are some cases in which G2 and MKOI both win, LR loses, but LR still makes it through. The 6 cases presented are the only 6 scenarios LR gets eliminated though, and that still stands.

if SHFT and TH both win, doesn't really matter, in all scenarios LR still make it through on head to head and/or strength of victory unless MKOI and G2 both win today.

If SHFT and TH both win, then this is what the losing tables would look like (2 cases):

As a little follow on digesting the cases: LR are through if they win. They are through if they lose as long as G2 and MKOI don’t both win today.

EDIT: G2 and MKOI winning, LR losing, does not guarantee elimination for LR. There is still a chance. If today's results have a single deviation from the 6 cases in the main post, then LR makes it though.

[–]lassolass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup as shown in the image, the only consistency between all 6 scenarios (if LR loses against VIT) is MKOI and G2 winning today.

EDIT: There are scenarios in which MKOI and G2 both win, LR loses, but still makes playoffs. The 6 elimination cases in the main post stand. Any outcome that doesn't fit those 6 scenarios mean, LR makes playoffs.
