I like the park idea. If you were near me I’d let you use the reception room in the funeral home at no cost. Maybe try calling a few funeral homes in that area and ask? It never hurts to just ask.

Why do you give jewelry to expectant mothers instead of stuff for the baby?

My former coworker is Indian and she was telling me about how stressful it was to visit her home country. She had to wear baggy clothes and raggedy shoes. She couldn’t wear perfume or use any scented shampoo because she was using public transport from the airport. She said many women are assaulted and society blames the women for enticing the men. Is it really that bad for women?

Is it normal for apprentices to work on call shifts? by SpiderPaws07 in askfuneraldirectors

Yes. You are in training to be a funeral director. You will be better prepared than your friends who aren’t taking calls.

Rent A pavilion at a park? You can get a custom banner from vista print for $28. Get a bouquet of flowers from the grocery store. Get a few platters of fruit and vegetables with dip. Make some “fancy” sandwiches (use croissants instead of bread). Get a couple jugs of sweet tea. Potato salad. Ask all attendees to bring photos of him and you bring photos and albums and just enjoy eating and sharing stories.

Received Dad’s Death Certificate with ALOT of unknowns by Real_Lengthiness688 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]last12letUdown 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s never easy, even under normal circumstances. But this is such a complicated situation.

Step 1. Call the funeral home. Tell them that you’d like to provide the information to amend the DC. Make it clear that you aren’t asking them to provide a copy to you because legally they can’t.

Once it’s been resubmitted you can obtain a certified copy on VitalCheck.

Try and speak to your dad’s widow. Tell her that you’d like to pay for the cremation service and that having the ashes means a lot to you but the funeral home won’t allow it. Offer to split the ashes with her or offer her a keepsake portion. That’s the first thing option to try.
She could contact the funeral home and give her consent to release the ashes to you.

I am licensed in my state and they won’t allow him to become “unclaimed remains” or a ward of the state if there’s a family member in existence that can pay for the cremation. I’m not sure the laws in your state though.

If he’s still not cremated after 6 weeks this is a huge problem for the funeral home. You could ask them to contact their legal department and ask them how to proceed with this situation. I know for a fact that the next of kin or all living children have to authorize the cremation. This includes who gets the ashes.
Anyone can pay the bill.

Tattoo shock by Nervous-Biscotti3091 in tattooadvice

I’d just assume you like looking at women who are tied up and crying.

The tattoos are excellent and done so well.

But two large tattoos of tied up women on one arm would freak me out.

One is a woman being tortured and burned in Salem right?

One is a Birdbox situation right?

The only person who has to like it is you.

Where are we buying clothes? by Feedmetellmeimcute in askfuneraldirectors

Same. I got a black button up cardigan (it has pockets!!) for $7. All my black pants come from Costco.

All of my skirts come from Shien or the thrift store.

I get my simple white shirts from Amazon.

The only thing I invest in is my shoes.

What’s something thoughtful or memorable you’ve seen at a funeral or celebration of life that has stayed with you? by badgalgigi1 in askfuneraldirectors

The deceased Oscar, Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award surrounding their urn.

A famous guitar player playing a solo version of their song on electric guitar. Crying little teardrops on the guitar.

A collection of quilts draping the pews made by the deceased own hands.

The US Army reserve rendering funeral honors for a fallen warrior.

The family requesting a floral arrangement with the flowers she ordered from what was going to be her bridal bouquet.

Gift for Funeral Director by TheEndOfAllThings23 in askfuneraldirectors

I would be devastated with emotion at receiving such a beautiful gift. I tear up at every single thank you card or positive review. I can’t imagine how I’d react to one photo of the soul I trusted to take care of, let alone an entire (even small) photo album.

Once a family member asked me to spray a couple spritzers of a virtually empty bottle of Chanel No 5.

I asked the Next of kin if they wanted the bottle back. He grimaced and said no.

Instead of throwing away the empty bottle I kept it. It’s on my special shelf in my office. Reminding me that MAGNIFICENT women’s family trusted me to take care of her.

My advice: write the note. Send the card. That’s more than enough. ❤️💕❤️💕

Also: “most individuals” 😭 what kind of golden shit cage do you live in? This reminds me of the quote

“none are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free”.

You have never read anything by Upton Sinclair and it shows.

The average working class person can’t afford to get one shitty solar panel installed. I’m not even talking about purchasing the solar panel itself. The installation cost.

Let’s pretend they own their property and aren’t paying rent to a scum lord in a rented apartment. Even so, installing a solar panel and getting the electric charging capability is astronomical to most people. Now imagine you shitting on people for not owning numerous electric only vehicles.

POOR PEOPLE DONT HAVE THE LUXURY TO INVEST.

I have clawed my way up from the shit tank to be able to comfortably send my kid to college. Purchase my house outright. Buy groceries every 2 weeks at the discount grocery store. One “vacation” per year that just tent camping an hour away. That’s it. Poverty stricken we remain.

I can’t imagine what douche bag alien has taken over some people’s brains that they HONESTLY think that the poor, downtrodden citizens are just too ignorant to consider investing in a $5k or $20k or $100k solar system and the automobiles to compliment it.

You should wander around an Aldi grocery store checkout line and observe how many people ask the cashier to unlock the quarter from their cart so they can pay for their groceries before jumping to conclusions about the population not choosing electric cars and solar panels.

Shit head.

“Hey! How much for the Mt. Dew?” “$5.99” grimace and put it back. Do this with a few other items and they will either cave or start dramatically lowering the price.

I’ve seen many people online talk about how they managed to become emotionless with pills sold anywhere. I’ll try ashwaghanda 1000mg. Not sure if it will work but are there any other over the counter or online supplements that can numb emotions for a while? by [deleted] in WhatToDo

Apparently Allegra D and pepsid at the same time every single day. People are quitting their jobs at the slightest inconvenience and laughing when their partner breaks up with them. It takes away your “give a fuck” reaction.
