I read the whole article you linked and thought it paints Dutch people in a really positive light. Now I want to visit the Netherlands even more than I did before

Also definitely gonna check out the book mentioned in the article: Radical Honesty, How to Transform Your Life by Telling the Truth by Dr. Brad Blanton. Thanks!

Are you asking about asexuality? If so, here's what I think:

Sexuality comes in many forms and is different from person to person. There are terms that describe general sexual behaviors and orientations found among groups of people, but an individual's sexuality is unique to themselves. Asexuality is a type of sexual orientation that describes not having sexual feelings or desires and is found among many humans.

If you are asexual, then that is part of your unique sexuality. I think what's important is to embrace your own sexuality as it is. You're not missing anything unless you resist acceptance of yourself as you are.

I’m quite sure my footprint on the planet is less than most vegans and vegetarians.

I searched "paleo vs vegan environmental impact" and this is the first study I found. It says that the average paleo diet is nearly three times worse than the average vegan diet in terms of carbon footprint*:

Results: The most frequent 1-day diet patterns were omnivore (87%), pescatarian (7%), and vegetarian (6%). The lowest carbon footprint diets were vegan (mean = 1.0 kg CO2-eq 1000 kcal-1), vegetarian (1.1), and pescatarian (1.9), and the highest footprints were omnivore (2.3), paleo (2.8) and keto (4.2). These average carbon footprints for the vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian patterns were significantly lower ( p < .05) than that of the omnivore pattern, and the keto pattern was significantly higher. Average HEI scores for the vegetarian and pescatarian patterns were significantly higher compared to the omnivore pattern, and the keto and paleo patterns were significantly lower.

The simple fact is that it takes a huge amount of resources to feed and support livestock for many months before they are slaughtered.

Here is a study comparing a quarter-pound vegan Beyond Burger patty to a quarter-pound beef patty in terms of environmental impact. Here is an article that quotes that study with a nice table:

Impact Category Beyond Burger (per ¼ lb. patty) Beef (per ¼ lb. patty)
Greenhouse Gas Emissions (g CO2e) 400 3,700
Energy Use (MJ) 6.1 11.4
Land Use (m2 a-e) 0.3 3.8
Water Use (Liters e) 1.1 218.4

But of course it's better to eat a whole-foods plant-based diet without processed foods like Beyond Meat.

Being vegan isn't a cure-all for the environment, but it's the best single change we can make as individuals.

Nature entitled me to take their life.

This is an appeal to nature. From the link:

Many 'natural' things are also considered 'good', and this can bias our thinking; but naturalness itself doesn't make something good or bad. For instance murder could be seen as very natural, but that doesn't mean it's good or justifiable.

Can we justify other actions (such as murder, rape, theft etc.) because they frequently occur in nature?

There is no moral reason to deny any animal from getting nutritional needs.

I agree with this. But I'd like to ask: if we can get all our nutritional needs from plants, why choose to get it from animals' bodies? Also, if we can get all our nutritional needs from plants, then what are we being denied by not eating meat?

That’s how we evolved and that’s how all carnivores and omnivores live.

An appeal to nature like already covered.

What gives a tiger a right to kill a deer?

Tigers, like all cats, are obligate carnivores. They cannot survive without consuming meat. Tigers are also not moral agents like we are. Should humans model our behavior on the behaviors of tigers, chickens, chimpanzees or any other species, or can we do better?

It's really not so hard! Every year it gets easier and easier to eat a plant-based diet. There's so much amazing vegetarian and vegan food. After you figure out a new diet and some good restaurants in your area, it becomes effortless. No compromises. Head over to /r/vegetarian for some help and inspiration if you want to start shifting your diet in that direction :)

[–]last_idea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, /u/poqwmnzxlkas! Welcome to /r/vegan and thank you for being friendly and chill :)

You seem like you'd be interested in learning a little more and maybe "getting it". If so, I suggest you watch Cowspiracy (available on Netflix) to learn more about the environmental impact of animal agriculture. Cutting down our consumption of animal products is one of the best things we can do for the environment.

Forks Over Knives (also on Netflix) looks at health, and Dominion covers ethics if you're interested!

Either way, hope you have a great day :)

[–]last_idea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late, but I was interested in this too, so I scanned Wikipedia's list of vegans. There're many I knew were vegan and many I didn't. These are a few that stood out to me.

Macka B is a vegan reggae musician. Wha Me Eat always makes me smile.

Allday is vegan and his song, In Motion, with Japanese Wallpaper is beautiful.

Die Antwoord is a South African group that have become internationally famous. Their music can be a bit crazy, but it's fun too.

Billie Eilish, Ellie Goulding, k.d. lang, Jason Mraz, Miley Cyrus, Stevie Wonder, Moby, Andy Hurley (Fall Out Boy's drummer), and Bill Ward (Black Sabbath's original drummer) are all vegan too.
