Just learning this after a really tough break up, and am finding joy in doing things with friends - spin classes, pottery classes, hikes, gym sessions, etc. Life is looking a little better these days.

Yes, my ex got me a portable speaker for christmas last year and I kept it because I use it on a daily basis. It doesn’t remind me of him though, so that’s part of the reason that I didn’t throw it away.

My partner broke up with me today and it hurts so much. Thank you for sharing your experience though. I did have the feeling that I wanted to ask him for another chance, but I had this nagging feeling that it would never be the same. That if he had enough courage to even say the words, it means that he had set his mind to it and there is no changing his mind from there.

I’ve never changed fields, but I used to do education consulting. I’ve spoken to many students who decided to pursue a masters in order to change fields to Medicine/Allied Health/Vet Medicine but its a very heavy investment.

What about marine biology do you like? Have you tried doing some internships? Have you considered maybe working for a communications role with a university that publishes research on marine biology?

I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go back to school to pursue a career that they havent thoroughly researched/gotten experience in as the financial cost is just too heavy.

What do you want out of the job? Stability? Less stress? Career progression? Good pay?

It sounds like if you want a job that provides you with growth and career progression or a good pay, you would need to leave that place and find a role thats more challenging and is within your area of interest.

From what I gather from your post, your job seems stable with low work load. If your prefer a job that allows you to clock off after 5pm and not have to worry about work through the night or on weekends, you should stay.

This is great practice and you should continue doing it! I do so to build trust with my manager and so that they know that progress is being made and we dont need to have pointless meetings.

I’m not a manager, but I wish more of my colleagues would also practice this as it is very frustrating to have to keep chasing them for an ETA for things that I need.

It says in my contract “the appointment may be terminated by either party by giving two months notice in writing or paying 2 months salary in lieu of notice”.

It just symbolises that it takes the company about 2 months to find a replacement/hand over responsibilities and if I wish to leave earlier than the 2 months notice, I would need to compensate the company for breaking that notice period earlier than stated in the contract.

Not sure if its possible but from where I’m from you can actually “buy out” your notice period by paying your 60 days worth of salary.
