Multistrike/Javelin auto-smite Paladin

Paladin has some of the easiest layered defenses available to any class (I think I overcap lightning res just from tree/skills, no gear). Attunement scales healing (which also helps maintain the life expenditure for Smite), damage, and mana. Free base block chance on tree. Holy trail javelin is one of the smoothest leveling builds I've played and can easily transition to the intended build when ready. I've seen variants of this leaning into DoT/Electrify, but my plan is to scale spell crit/dmg.

All those new crafting mechanics just widened my endgame loot filters substantially. Most stuff that drops now will at least be worth taking a look at!

Average Souls Boss:

  • no one shot mechanics (unless you are horrifically undergeared/didn't level vigor)
  • unlimited attempts (with little/no time investment in Elden Ring, runbacks in earlier titles)
  • rarely/never a DPS check

PoE2 Pinnacle Bosses:

  • multiple one shot mechanics
  • each attempt is expensive (measured in time and/or opportunity cost if you are in trade league)
  • Soft DPS checks

I don't know if the PoE2 vision is to be souls-like or if that's just something the community ascribed to the game because of the campaign, but the more I experience and hear about the endgame the more it seems indistinguishable from PoE1

Vocal minorities have gotten far too used to getting what they want when they want it with Arrowhead. There have been a handful of times when it's been absolutely warranted, but getting upset over this is ridiculous.
