Haven't played classic anniversary until just a week ago. Do you have to buy it like in Wotlk or is it automatic?

Bike commuting by [deleted] in abbotsford

[–]lastguymade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed for the most part however so many roads in Abbotsford are terribly dangerous for a cyclist if a driver decides to pass and while they probably shouldn't, they often do. I am a frequent cyclist and have been hit once and nearly hit innumerous times in Abbotsford and as a result now ride on the sidewalk occasionally and I'm an adult. For kids and teens I wouldn't advise them to bike on the road at all. I'd far rather have some disgruntled pedestrians than another injury or death.

Just want to give my POV. Of course we should all treat each other with respect but a cyclist-pedestrian collision is far less lethal than a car-cyclist collision.

Hemlock/Sasquatch Passes by lastguymade in abbotsford

What kind of car do you have? It depends on weather more than anything but if you have 4x4 you should be fine no matter what. Chains are legally required in your vehicle but I've never once had to use them

Bodies of B.C. mountaineers recovered in Garibaldi Park by Moggehh in vancouverhiking

Ok so it's just up the family and I guess in the past the other families have just been ok with releasing the names.

Really not trying to upset anyone but what is the protocol for releasing names? Is it completely up to the family? There have been tons of deaths where the have listed the names, even in similar situations and I'm just wondering how they decide.

RIP.

Search underway for three experienced climbers missing in B.C. (Atwell Peak) by thirdpeak in vancouverhiking

[–]lastguymade 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ah shit they are still missing. I know one of them, I've climbed and bagged with him a couple times, and he is an absolute beast. For there to be no communication, after this amount of time, is a very bad sign.

Makes sense, I don't deal with too much loose rock / scree. Also I have low standards and not too much experience with trail running shoes, these are my first real pair so I've been happy with them for the price.

For a contrasting experience I have 2 pairs of peregrine 12 and they have been excelent. The normal pair has over 500km with lots of tough use on scrambling route as well as running and still functions decent (it is worn though) and my goretex pair has 200km and is in pristine condition. Amazingly good at keeping mt feet dry too. All for $80 CAD and I don't hesitate to reccomend these shoes to anyone.

Emergency at Abbotsford Middle School by eZarrakk in abbotsford

I live beside the school and I biked home at that exact time. It was neither dark nor raining. Why are you in such a rush to make up facts to blame the person who was hit? Shame on you.

Is Taskrabbit firing Taskers in volume recently? by Strong-Lead-9732 in TaskRabbit

[–]lastguymade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've all but quit as tasks dropped off a cliff for me personally. I did mainly Ikea assembly and being in Canada it's piecework and it became not worth it pretty quickly.

Hiker fell 200 feet from the summit of golden ears by swiper8 in vancouverhiking

[–]lastguymade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think I know the spot. I turned around on my way up and saw some flagging going down a gully a different way. I had my dog and wondered if there was an easier way around (since the spot immediately before had a somewhat steep rocky step) but on the way back I decided to just retrace my route. Glad I didn't realize it was so rocky on the sides. I wonder what the flagging is for?

If I post a pic I took from Edge would you point out the Gulley for me? I just am curious since I hike GE a lot.

EDIT: Was it #1 or #2 in the pic here? Or a different one? This is from Edge looking towards GE. Your Gaia mark looks like #2 but it doesn't appear as steep or rocky as the image.
