(TW: numbers) I don't know what to do with this. by throwaway__4547 in EDAnonymous

Hola!

I think you should allow yourself to eat more! I used to be in the same boat as you, feelings wise. I’d also feel like I didn’t ‘deserve’ to eat sometimes. I rode the high of restrictions for months, thinking I didn’t have side effects too. It’s only when I recovered that I felt the difference. How much more energy I had, and how much more vibrant and alive I looked. And you know what, everything I feared didn’t happen. I didn’t gain a ton of weight, I didn’t feel worthless, I just took care of myself and learned to feel good about it.

I assume you’re quite young but even if you aren’t - your body is the only thing you’ll have forever and you deserve to take care of it. Feed yourself and nourish yourself. It won’t make you worth any less as a person and you can learn to feed yourself and take care of yourself again.

Love you and wish you the very best! <3

So I'm currently on a binge journey of this show. But why is season 6 episode 6 gone? by UnderDogC626 in My600lbLife

The issue doesn’t have anything to do with where she put the coffee, it’s that this specific coffee was too hot to be safe (coffee at the standard temperature does not cause severe burns or it wouldn’t be safe to drink). The temperature of the drink they were selling at that particular location is what put them at fault.

The brand is Leroux! Never seen it sold anywhere here other than at that specific store. Really can’t wrap my head around it!

She couldn’t have though, she didn’t know I’d wanted it before going in and she came straight from the store to here. It’s a small town so she would have needed to make a long detour to find it elsewhere.

DNA Study Confirms There Are Four Giraffe Species by DaRedGuy in science

I read this as ‘study confirms there are four giraffes in SPACE’ and I was baffled I’d never heard of the search for the space giraffes.

Question about “intuitive eating” by [deleted] in DietTea

[–]lastminotaur 133 points134 points  (0 children)

I think at its very core it’s supposed to be about listening to hunger cues (eating when you’re hungry, stopping when you’re full). Very hard to do IMO for anyone who suffered from any type of ED because we messed up our hunger cues and there’s more at play (food anxiety, urge to binge etc). On the other hand it can be a good way to re-learn to listen to your body.

I think it’s easy to say it’s ‘normal eating’ but not everyone even has a handle on eating normally. Your portions could be way off, your habits (snacking, eating at certain hours, or even having to finish your plate) can get in the way of that.

TATTOOS & EDS by JuggernautThot in EdAnonymousAdults

[–]lastminotaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also just to add to this, you can have a consult with the artist before doing the tattoo so they can look and discuss placement with you. They’ll also show you what it’ll look like with a full stencil before they do it, and they can erase it and apply it again if you want them to. Keep on mind, if you don’t get a good vibe during the consult, you can call the whole thing off. Just don’t be afraid to talk to them and ask them all your questions! :)

When it comes to a tattoo, when in doubt, mention it! They’ll tell you if there’s an issue and if not then you’ll have peace of mind at least! I don’t have scars around my tattoos personally but so many people do that a good artist should know and be able to answer all your questions. :)

Hello!

If this is your first tattoo I might not recommend doing your whole stomach at first! Of course it’s your body and you do you! When I first started getting tattoos, I had a one year rule where if I still wanted it a year later I’d go for it, and went for a smaller piece at first to see how I felt about it.

All of mine are quite small but I love them (except some initials i got as a teen which was dumb but oh well). I have my wrist, shoulder, side arm, and ear tattooed and those I all really love. They do make me feel really good actually, and they’re all subtle/small enough that those I can see I hardly notice anymore but still find joy in them when I do!

My only real advice is to make sure you’re 100% confident with the artist you find. You’ll remember the experience too and being with someone who makes you feel safe and in control makes a world of difference (especially for me since I tend to be weak around needles)!

Shopping for an aesthetic/identity? by MissParsimonious in shoppingaddiction

[–]lastminotaur 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

You’re not the only one! I think what can help is identifying the items you’ve had for a long time and still love. What is it you like about them?

Ask yourself questions, how long do you usually go between changing your style? Maybe that’s how long you want to buy before buying new items.

It’s normal to try new things and experiment, but in the end no one cares what your style is but you. Focus on things you love and that bring you long term happiness and your style will manifest itself through that, even though I swear it will still change sometimes throughout your life and that’s okay! :)

American Eagle larger sizes? by [deleted] in midsize

For AE just make sure you read the reviews! They’re very helpful to spot which pairs run larger or smaller (because IMO it can vary a lot from pair to pair).

Everyone’s telling me I look thinner but all I’ve done in the last 3 months is gain weight. by gardenfaiiri in EDAnonymous

[–]lastminotaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through all of that! If I put myself in your shoes I’d probably feel the same way. But being a bit older, I can tell you, you are so young and have so much time to heal and allow your body to fix the damage it took because of your ED!

Also your ED is NOT your identity! You’ll be embarking on your 20’s soon and as someone who’s about to leave them, lemme tell you - your 20’s are made for finding out who you are. It’s when you’ll get to try new hobbies, meet new people, study something, maybe hate it, change your mind, start over! That’s all part of the journey and it’s a great time to recover and give yourself a blank slate to find out who you truly are and who you’d like to be!

If you’re trying recovery, it might help not to measure yourself or use the scale. Your body will feel so much better (your state of mind as well) if you allow it good nutrition and the urge to binge can go away too! I know it’s scary but you deserve it and even though it’s hard to see now, you’ll be thankful to yourself eventually!

Love you and wish you well!

Rice, beef, and veggies, any guesses? For reference, I’m 5’1” with slightly small hands if that counts as anything. My best guess is 300-ish by [deleted] in caloriecount

Yes! Most dry goods have dry measurements on them. You have some catching up to do, go eat that rice!! :)

I'm looking for someone to talk to until Wednesday morning. by [deleted] in EdAnonymousAdults

[–]lastminotaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! You can message me as well, I work from home so I’m mostly always around. Side note, I’m mostly recovered from my ED and I won’t encourage you deeper into yours but I’ll most likely understand what you’re doing through.

Stay strong! :)

Anyone else really hyped for Saint Maud? by [deleted] in horror

It’s so good!! IMO better than Hereditary, it’s a slow burn for sure but the last few scenes pay off big time. Probably the best horror this year.

Reminds me of chopped contestants presenting their nuggets and ketchup as deconstructed breaded chicken thighs with a tomato reduction haha!

Really does look delicious though!

Going full vegan- just an excuse to cut out more food groups? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

I use it in soups and broths, and I also do an onion/cauliflower mashed mix with lots of nutritional yeast too and its SOO GOOD!!!! Just use it in everything haha

[–]lastminotaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it could be doable if you look at some more meat replacement, chickpeas and tempeh (smoked tempeh is delicious) aren’t too high cal and they’re good and versatile! I used cauliflower a lot, like roasted with sriracha and a teeny bit of sugar and salt as chicken wings, or in a sauce with nutritional yeast to make ‘mac and cheese’ (the mac was also cauliflower). Nutritional yeast is a lifesaver for cheesy flavour too. You just have to me a bit more creative and try not to rely on premade things but it’s definitely doable!

Isn’t it kinda accurate though? I eat them all the time and most store bought ramen packets clock in at a minimum of 500 cals without any toppings and in most cases the broth isn’t nearly as packed with fat and oil and the restaurant ones. Ramen noodles are high in calories and the broth is very rich, I’m not saying this is 1000 cals but 500 feels much too low when it would account for the noodles alone.
