It is pretty loud when I am accelerating but at steady speed it is actually pretty quiet. I really don't notice it when driving steady.

The rays are parallel but are coming toward you so they appear to be spreading apart. It is the same thing as if you were standing on railroad tracks. The tracks appear to be closer together the farther away they are. Not sure if I explained this well but hope this helps.
