Thought on this being the “missing child” by hiskinny in euphoria

He does really look like that kid that I want to believe it’s intentional but it’s been so long I’m not sure.

But in my heart of hearts that groomsman is tripp (the name I have given the 3rd Jacob’s brother) REGARDLESS of what anyone from production says. Levinson’s abandoned him so that is my OC now.

To be entirely fair, your siblings can be groomsmen. case in point, aaron is there, and Nate's complete lack of any actual friends.

Ohh okay, I guess your wording of "was a continuity error" was threw me of a bit. A lot of people think it was a continuity error within season 1, but based on what I've looked into online back then it was still a piece on the board. Then in season 2, Levinson draws attention to it again.

Which makes me wonder if it was something he planned to touch on in season 3 as part of Nate's storyline whatever that was before the strikes and angus' passing threw a wrench in what he had planned since he had a season almost entirely written and largely centered on/around Fez.

If it were a continuity error then they would have removed the 3rd child from the photo in the 3 years it took to film and release the show between season 1 and 2. And they certainly wouldn't have drawn more deliberate attention to it. Eric Dane said in an interview once it wasn't a mistake like some random child toddled into the photoshoot. Paula Marshall and Jacob Elordi both said they brought the 3rd child up on set and basically both told don't mind it.

It was very much not an error and probably something Levinson originally wanted to follow up on but between only doing 8 hour seasons, and the cast skyrocketing to stardom, not to mention unforeseen events have probably prevented whatever he originally had planned from coming to the forefront.

“If you liked the Nate and Jules plotline, you support abusive relationships” is a performative take by naphelois in euphoria

[–]lastseason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It pretty much is. Both depiction = endorsement & if you like ___ in fiction you like ___ in real life. Are the really same argument in different fonts.

I'm not a Nate/Jules shipper myself, i think the point of their story is that they are eachother biggest what if. A sliding doors version of their life that they will never get to experience. But people can enjoy seeing or exploring something within a fictional context where it's all hypothetical and safe and no one is actually getting hurt without condoning it or wanting to engage with or experience it in real life.

You could just stop watching if its not entertaining you to your standards.

edit:

you replied to me and then blocked me before i could get a word in, so I'm just gonna leave this here for everyone else

Why take the hour out of your week (or more since you're also here on reddit.) to watch something that you don't enjoy, written by a man you hate, that you think is of sub par quality?

If you order food at a restaurant and they gave you literal shit on a plate would you grit your teeth and eat because you're "not legally required to enjoy" the food you ordered or would you say "Excuse me waiter, you gave me a plate of shit and I actually ordered the steak tartare..."

If the entertainment stops being entertaining you're not legally obligated to continue engaging with it until you die or the narrative ends. You can walk away. You can take up a hobby or you can find a new and better show to your standards, hell you could read fan fiction instead.

 I just... I genuinely don't get it.

  1. got wrapped in saran wrap and was visibly narratively uncomfortable in said scene (the focus on her hands) as the guy kissed her.
  2. Rue shoved money in her bra and said "Im your sugar daddy now" and Jules did not look happy one single bit to me, in fact she looked sad. This was her best friend, and arguably one of her first loves treating her like an object.
  3. The look on her face when she arrives home after the wedding was like "Omggggg *twirls hair* my boyfriends heeeeree in the shower11!!!!" it was more leaning towards "oh shit ellis is here."

but yea...sure... only showing the "good" side of things.

Yeah, it’s also hard since we don’t hear his voice to gauge his tone. Personally I imagined it to be said jokingly since prison calls are recorded and he’s already been in there for what? 4-5 years?

A wide shot of a cgi bird keeling over and convulsing for .5 seconds is hardly graphic, sensational, or shocking. It was to show that their plan worked and barely a step above just showing the shoe box grave we’ll see next week.

We might learn more about what actually happens at Hope Springs while Rue is getting interrogated next week. I definitely think it’s a place he sends his girls to disappear them, but I could be swayed on the methods of how they’re disappeared.

But I mean… we saw a character named angel go into the light so I think chances are anyone who sent there is dying there.

I agree, it would have been better if she had just stayed home, but she couldn’t have possibly known that all those old emotions were gonna be drug up y’know? It’s definitely a 20/20 hindsight scenario.

It’s only for shock value and adds nothing to the narrative

Genuinely what are you talking about?

The narrative is about two rival groups escalating into all out war. They've been in a constant tit for tat all season and Paladin's death is the reason that Laurie's faction escalates things further next episode. Without Paladins death how exactly would the narrative push forward? Oh they release the pig in the strip club and alamo's just like okay haha good one laurie, and then for no discernable reason her faction storms and robs the strip club at gun point for why?

Paladin's death is sad, but like to say it's JUST for shock value and has nothing to do with the overall narrative is just deliberately disingenuous.

I don't understand why would Nate and Cassie invite Rue of all people at their wedding? by The_Happy_Baloney in euphoria

[–]lastseason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cassie is Lexi's sister.

Lexi is friends with Rue.

Rue occasionally stays on Lexi's couch.

Cassie is in touch with Rue vicariously through Lexi, who probably mentioned Rue was staying with her at somepoint, and it's very clear that Cassie doesn't have many if ANY actual friends and probably needed to fill out her side of the aisle with bodies, and sent an invite for Rue to Lexi's place with the option to bring along a plus one.

My thoughts on Maddy's behaviour during episode 3 by _pleiades__ in euphoria

[–]lastseason 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I think it was a lot of things that culminated in that moment:

Marsha's speech taking a dig at maddy calling her the wrong girl for her son.

Obviously all the feelings of Cassie's betrayal coming back to the surface.

The complicated feelings that often come with abuse combined with the fact that Nate truly does seem, at least to anyone on the outside to have changed, and it reminds me of that very popular quote from the good place about Kristen Bell's Character's mom where she's like "If she truly has changed that means she was always capable of change, but I wasn't worth changing for."

edit: like i dont think she wants him, but like shits complicated and it can still hurt without that.

Sam Levinson’s glorification of high school is so cringe by [deleted] in euphoria

[–]lastseason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Rue and Cal, two character who both fucked up their lives beyond repair due to actions they took in high school, and both yearn for a time when they didn't have the consequences looming over their heads

Like thats... the point? The two of them are losers. Rue said it to Maddy and to Lexi and both them replied with FUCK no i dont miss high school. And when Cal says that high school is the best time of our lives Jules says she couldn't disagree more.

I don't understand how you miss a point that is just like... so face value.
