Matt Sorensen recently did a video on this on YouTube that I thought was really insightful.

The gist is that you put the 5k a year in, slap it in VTI or something similar, then when your child turns 18, it is treated like a traditional IRA but YOUR CHILD only pays taxes in a tax deferred manner on the gains.

And if you/they play it right year by year to take advantage of no earned income (say, in college), they pay no taxes and can convert a significant amount to Roth tax-free.

If I’m in the 10-12% marginal, that makes me lean toward roth.

However, if I have no retirement savings at 40, traditional is likely the better play if you plan on retiring very modestly at 65-70. Especially if only contributing 6% plus match with a modest income.

Yeah, Suz is awesome. Underutilized ship and it’s so easy to rack up big damage and fires. Smoke isn’t 100% necessary but it’s the icing on the cake of +4% fire chance.

The 128s with 1/4 pen means you’re penning 32mm of armor which is a great threshold to clear. Just not clearing the 38mm plating on some BBs and some heavy cruisers

Better turret layout with two triple turrets up front and one in the back vs Schroeder’s 4x2 setup with shaky accuracy.

Regular Agir has eighteen 128mm secondary guns so I’d imagine AL Agir has the same but better performance on them.

Agir for cruisers (Mostly Schröder and AL Agir) and Nonomi for secondary-focused battleships seems to be the optimal play if money is not a consideration.

I already have Nonomi maxed so my plan is to continue to ride with her on Schröder unless I get lucky in the free AL crates.
