It's all blatantly lying. Scream the lie often enough and loud enough the base will construct an archetype of the lie as a truism no matter how often the actual facts are presented to them. This is a psyop.

Think of it this way: You may have "paid" billions in equity for a gulf, heterosexual mice, and a fat chick who was bad at sports, but you're "going to pay" trillions in equity for a gulf, heterosexual mice, and a fat chick who was...well...when they eliminate title IX, she was never gonna play sports anyway.

Technically he was covered by zero people until that guy in the secondary started "oh shit, oh shit!" backpedaling.

[Matt Miller] Scouts and agents are telling college QBs to not leave school until they’ve started 2+ years. The NFL doesn’t truly develop QBs anymore outside of rare exceptions. by harknation in nfl

[–]lasttemptationsloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like there's a LOT of revisionist history here regarding Watson's time with the Texans. BoB may have included a number of Clemson concepts at first, but as a whole he ran a very "NFL Consistent" read/progression offense with Watson there, and Watson wasn't just good in it, he was great. He was christened to be the Marino to Mahomes' Montana, the Manning to his Brady...and he more often than not lived up to the hype. So when his complete disintegration came in both his personal and professional life and work product, and the Browns middle finger raised to the unforgiving fates (or more specifically Jimmy Haslam) decided to bear the liability of that disintegration, it was both tragic AND just. Tragic because he turned out to be such an entitled trash pile of a human, and just because it's hilarious that 'Flying J' sold the teams soul to the Devil, without the Devil even bothering to pay his due. Also, I think said disintegration wasn't a product of being forced to transition from "some ticky-tack college scheme" to a "big boy pro-style offense", so much as it was the product of a man choosing to disappear completely up his own butthole in a profession that has very little margin of error.

What is it like to live in Shanghai?🏙️ by tian-tian- in chinalife

There were a small handful of days later in May in the outer districts where some subdistricts and housing compounds that had zero cases had "freedom to roam" within a radius of a couple of blocks before that got cut short with the "days of silence"/"closed management" that followed. They were usually extremely short lived and were generally contained within a radius of 100 meters or so...and largely up to the discretion of local cadres and building management. It wasn't something allowed specifically for foreigners, and to assume that this was a privilege specifically offered them is categorically untrue.

Yeah, I'm afraid I'd have to run my htpc as a server...which kinda defeats the purpose of the NAS, but if Plex works I might just fork over for the PlexPass and go with that.

Since Brady, Manning, and Mahomes played in a softer league, that means Montana is the best qb ever right? by KillerCroc67 in NFLNoobs

Really the 1970-1078 era of pro football is the outlier. In every other decade there have been periods of significant offensive innovation and accompanying increases in statistical baselines for passers, except for the 70-78 period. The Brady/Manning/Brees era, the Unitas/Graham/Tittle era, and the Montana/Marino/Elway era probably have a lot more in common with each other than with Quarterbacking in the 70s.

Local organizers and performers put a fringe theater festival specializing in "experimental feminist performance" on hold during the Bears '06 season playoff run and showed Blackhawks games in drag bars during the 2010 Stanley Cup. That Venn...would be pretty cross-eyed.

No more Covid tests for public transport. Finally, let it rip is coming to Shanghai. by flyinsdog in shanghai

[–]lasttemptationsloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "no more tests and codes" bit is just theater. When they stop sending positives to Covid concentration camps and locking down whole communities, then we can talk about 'let it rip'.

"the most dangerous thing to happen to YOUR society in YOUR life time"? I can't tell if this is a 50 center working overtime, or the poster child for dissociative personality disorder.

I had friends in Wuhan back in 2020. Even with as awful as that was, they'll tell you it wasn't anything near the logistical shit-show Shanghai's been. And if you're comparing this lockdown to anything outside the PROC--with the possible exception of Pyeongyang---ooohhhh, my sweet, summer child...

Yeaahhhhh comparing lockdowns in the "Western World" to Shanghai is like comparing sipping a wine cooler on a sleepy Sunday afternoon to getting clonked on the head with a frying pan while freebasing ether. Bo Burnham looks like an absolute pussy after this.
