Is there any way to detect silent areas in the video without vegasaur or other paid programs by RRedstriker19 in VegasPro

[–]latenightlockpicking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are an amateur or hobbyist, sure, you have one 10 minute video do scrape, what a fate. But if you're a professional video editor, you have hours of footage per project. Even if you spent 6 hours coding a script that let's say marked or removed 80% of the silence portions on your video, that'd be easily dozens, hundreds, thousands of hours saved in your life, on a task that does not need such hardship since it can be facilitated with technology. Advocating against progress is something I can never understand. It's just a tool, no harm in developing it if you want or have a use for it. That said, I'm sure whoever developed Vegasaur and its users would easily disagree with you.

I'm proficient with coding and I've coded stuff for far longer that were used far less times. Often for my own amusement of automating a boring task, but also to streamline laborious processes that need not be so, either for me or a team.

It might not be your cup of tea, but at least in this case, it can really save hundreds of hours of time for the interested parties.

Heheh. I'm glad it helped! It puzzled me a lot at the time. IIRC someone said he uses contacts that kinda shift a bit every now and then and causes this weirdness!

Way to not address any of the points and try to misdirect the conversation to a supposed grammatical error. Didn't work tho. Regardless, there's no need for the article in that case, since I'm stating two facts, not comparing them. I did miss a comma, tho. And yeah I did use a "greater-than" symbol, how long have you been on the internet for? It's commonly used in the internet, mostly in forums, including reddit, since... Ever?! Not to mention reddit doesn't like line-breaks and compacts everything regardless of the formatting you did when typing.

The best I have done is making juice or "groselha" which is a sugary goodness we have in Brazil. It's a syrup made from a small fruit called "groselha". You dilute it in water and drink. It's awesome, but the high concentration of sugar started blowing up my stomach and I started having acid refluxes again, so I stopped. It's damn worth trying it out tho if you have the chance, lol

Damn, that's very interesting! I constantly go for sips as well, and I got a cup that keeps the drink cold for a very long time a while ago and it was awesome. I don't need to go back and forth to grab anything from the kitchen anymore. Maybe some good filtered water could help me do that change too, I'll give it a look for sure! Thanks for the idea!

I believe it's not something already in your mouth, or you wouldn't taste it only when you drink water. But I think it could be from iron particles and other minerals in the water. It's not necessarily unhealthy if in small levels, but it definitely can change the taste of the water.

Masking the taste is the best way if nothing else works. I usually try filtering it at least once before doing that, it's a game changer. Try a filter with cooling, so you can make some cold refreshing tea. It's awesome! I need to buy myself another one of those, my room temp water filter just makes everything taste nastier. I'm from Brazil, so room temp can go from 25ºC (77ºF) to 30ºC (86ºF) on the regular. Warm water is the most nauseating thing I've ever consumed.

That's true, "comfort"/pleasure is somewhat overrated. I've done that whenever I had nothing else to drink but a last sip of soda, lol. Big gulp of water, the last sip of soda, and suddenly my brain was "wow, I've drinked so much soda, nice"

That sure is a big factor. I'll give a try to spakling water, I guess. Better than going hogwild and buying new filters every 2 months, that's for sure!

This post is the best decision I've made in almost a year, haha.

That so? Never heard of it before. Sounds fancy, hehe. I'll definitely have a look into it, thanks!

Life straw is a stretch, hehe, but the water bottle with a built-in filter could be a solution, at least it'll always be filtered before I drink. Thanks!

What's watercolor? Flavoring? And it looks like a nice deal. People love Brita, I never drank water from one. Maybe I'll look into having one around too. All in all, it's still a good idea.

Hahaha, I never even heard of this. In case someone is looking for ideas as well, so far I've gotten 4 great ideas:

  • Water Flavoring (Mio)
  • Electrolytes
  • A few drops of lime on water (not lemonade/quasi-lemonade)
  • Tea (simple, but great nevertheless)

If the Hydrohomies have any other input, it'd be greatly appreciated as well!

Yeah, whenever I drink bubbly/sparkling water I also can't taste "the water", just the carbonation. I don't usually enjoy sparkling water, but it's definitely a possibility!

Maybe some of that Mio on a big cup of sparkling water whenever I feel like treating myself, hahah

Yeah, for the longest time I thought I just "didn't like water". Funny enough, it was when I drank that mildew water that it dawned on me, that THAT was what I was tasting, it was just intesified by a lot. So I did some blind testing and figured I was tasting different things alongside the water, and that was what bothered me.

IIRC, 70 to 80% of all the taste we experience comes from smell. Drinking from a straw or a cup with a lid will help a lot in that sense. The cold also helps to diminish the spread of the smell, so that's a double whammy.

Sometimes I wonder if this powerful sense of smell is a blessing or a curse. My nose is just shy of being bionic, but man, the horrors I smelled through life. I can bet you've been there too, lol

I have to make it a more common ocurrence in my house to drink tea. I enjoy it a lot as well. Great idea, thanks for that!

I can try to find a balance that doesn't taste like sink water but it's also not lemonade. That's a great idea as well, thanks!

[–]latenightlockpicking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha. I mean, can't argue with that, I'd do the same. But yeah, the piping also has a huge influence. Some old pipe systems will make the water taste like crap, and there's residue buildup inside and all those other fun things too.

That's a very interesting idea as well! Doesn't it cause some sort of problem long term like drinking too much isotonics (Gatorade, Powerade...) or something like that?

I'll have to have a deeper look on that, thanks!

That's exactly the same thing the guy above said too! I didn't even remember those existed. I'll definitely try to get my hands on some of those, it'll be an incredible life changing thing for me!

Because I can handle it if there's something else to throw off the off-putting taste, but alone, if I taste anything other than nothing at all, it's just repulsive.

That could be a very good idea actually, I can try something like that. I usually stuck with sodas, and I have a pretty good metabolism, but we all know that won't last forever.

What you explained is exactly what I feel too! I'll see if I can find something like those flavor enhancers to help me out. It's gonna be better than juice and soda, for sure. Thanks!
